Last season, NBA teams used coach's challenges in drastically different ways, and with varying levels of success.

Suns are doing great work on these extensions this offseason
The Suns are picking up Ighodaro's $2.5M team option for 2027-28, so the extension starts in 2028 and runs through 2031 for the franchise's second-round find who has established into a reliable center.
The second quote is telling. Ideally, Godfrey will start and Holmes will be the sixth man.
Getting the latter comfortable with that role (one I think he will excel at), makes sense.
How are NBA teams using their timeouts?

The Toronto Raptors converted rookie two-way guard Jaden Bradley to a 4-year, $9.3 million deal, league sources told @hoopshype. This first year of the deal is guaranteed. Bradley was the 50th pick of the 2026 NBA Draft out of Arizona, where he was the Big 12 Player of the Year.
I am still waiting for someone to explain to me a situation where no option is better than mutual option for either side
Can confirm, per a league source, Ausar Thompson has agreed to a five-year, $155 million rookie-scale extension with the Pistons.
No options on the deal.
Encouraging projected year-over-year increase of nearly 6.7%. Here’s some additional numbers based on that projection (always rounded before being finalized).
The NBA has informed teams of its updated salary cap projections for the 2027-28 season, league sources tell @TheAthletic:
• $176 million salary cap
• $213 million luxury tax line
The new projection comes in $2 million higher than the league’s last one.
Funny that people think the Raptors should do this. I thought maybe the Clippers could hold out for more.
They originally made the trade thinking they were dealing a player with some risk attached. Now that there’s no risk, shouldn’t he be worth more?
And as far as relationships, it wasn’t the Clippers holding up the trade so I wouldn’t blame them for saying situation has changed now and checking the market one last time.
Just a little bit higher in AAV than I projected but starting at a lower number because I thought 4 years (PO)
Just in: Houston Rockets' Amen Thompson has agreed to a five-year, $208 million rookie-scale contract extension with the franchise, sources tell ESPN. The new deal includes a 10% trade kicker.
Today was a good day for occam's razor and anyone who enjoys following NBA roster construction and salary cap minutia
Part of me hopes that the NBA was trying to come to an agreement with the Clippers on a lesser penalty only for the Clippers to leak this story and then get hammered two weeks later. Just because that feels like just desserts
The NBA has found no evidence that Clippers owner Steve Ballmer funneled money through team sponsors to pay Kawhi Leonard and circumvent the salary cap, sources told @DVNJr, @Baxter and @ramonashelburne.
