The Enets were known as the Yenisei Samoyeds. "Enets," derived from enete/enneche, meaning "person" or "man".
The Enets language belongs to the Samoyedic branch of the Uralic language family, alongside Nenets, Nganasan, and Selkup. It has two distinct dialects: Tundra Enets and Forest Enets, which differ significantly in speech and aspects of identity.
The words minä, mina, miä, mie, minā and all of their colloquial or dialectal versions come from Proto-Finnic minä [I, me]; ultimately from Proto-Uralic minä [|] 🧚🏻♀️
While preparing the history of Finno-Ugric cuisine, I thought about creating a map of textile history. This would be gorgeous, as it would also show the interactions throughout history
Whenever I visit my young auntie, her cat follows me everywhere and jumps onto my lap. If I close the room door while sleeping at night, he knocks on the door and meows. I don't close the door anymore; he comes slowly and lays next to me :')
