BAYC didnโ€™t start as an art project. The status symbol aspect was created by the market. Extraction after success was the problem. Itโ€™s easy to take advantage of irrational thinking in a bubble. That part was negative EV for the space. Cultural significance however canโ€™t be denied. Most people couldnโ€™t comprehend NFTS or blockchain at the time.
