At 63, most people tell you to slow down.
I'm speeding up.
Chronic illness. No savings. Overnight shifts.
But I wake up every day believing America is on the edge of something extraordinary:
⚡ Grid-free homes
🚗 EVs for everyone
☀️ Solar abundance

California is offering homeowners money to ditch natural gas. Colorado is considering putting the right to buy it into its Constitution, I voted against it.
Here's where the economics come into play. Replacing a residential gas line can cost $20,000 to $30,000, with those costs ultimately passed along to utility customers. California's new law requires utilities to offer eligible homeowners a financial incentive to switch to electricity instead.
Meanwhile, Colorado voters will decide Amendment 82 this November, establishing a constitutional right to buy and sell natural gas for heating and cooking. At the same time, Colorado regulators have authorized Xcel Energy to develop a program similar to California's.
I have rooftop solar and an EV, but my furnace and water heater still run on natural gas. My priority is what makes financial sense for families, not turning energy into another political football.
Shouldn't homeowners have choices, with the costs laid out clearly, rather than being pushed toward one energy source?
I'm about half in the Apple ecosystem. I'm sure the HomeView will sell well and work great with other Apple products. For me it's just not compelling enough to buy.

Good news for EVs in the US. One of the replies was something like, "I don't see any reason to buy a gas car"...🇺🇸🔋⚡🌞
$38,000. That’s the average loss when an older person gets scammed.
The latest trick is especially cruel: a caller sounds like your child or claims to be a cop. They text you a barcode or QR code, tell you to load money onto it at a major retailer, then ask you to read the code back.
Remember this: if someone claiming to be from law enforcement or a government agency tells you to pay this way, it’s a scam.
Hang up. Look up the official number yourself and call it not the number they gave you. If the caller sounds like your child, call your child directly.
Our family has another simple rule: don’t reply to texts from unknown senders. I block them every day, including political texts.
When in doubt, stop and verify before you send money or respond. Stay safe in this crazy world.

Heading out in a couple of days on a trip from Western Colorado to Hopkinsville KY. It is going to be a long trip and I'm beyond grateful for FSD. Hoping I get an update before we leave. Come on 14.3.11 or 12
Happy to see that Starlink rose to the surface helping out people in serious need.

Charging preparations ahead of Hurricane Isaias:
→ If charging at home, charge to 100%.
→ Live availability of Superchargers are in the vehicle's touchscreen or the Tesla App.
→ Pre-storm, we are focused on uptime of Superchargers. Post-storm, our focus is on restoration, and we are prepared to deploy mobile Superchargers powered by Megapacks where access to charging is most impacted.
EV Sales Are Down. So Why Are We Still Building More Chargers?
The Wall Street Journal reports that public EV charger installations are on pace to match last year's record, even as new EV sales have fallen sharply.
That might sound backward, but consider something. The millions of EVs already on American roads aren't disappearing because new sales have slowed. Those vehicles still need places to charge, particularly when their owners travel.
I live in Grand Junction, Colorado, and drive a Tesla Model Y. Along I-70, public fast charging can cost considerably more than charging at home. I pay roughly 10 cents per kWh for household electricity, while some public fast chargers along the interstate charge between 38 and 56 cents per kWh.
That's a substantial difference, and one that prospective EV buyers need to understand. Charging at home is where much of the financial advantage comes from. Public fast charging is primarily about convenience and the freedom to travel.
Consider the cost of adding 50 kWh to an EV battery. At home, that electricity costs me approximately $5. At a public fast charger, the same amount could cost between $19 and $28. That's a significant premium, but it's also worth remembering that most EV owners who have access to home charging do the majority of their charging there.
Here's the part I find encouraging. Despite the slowdown in new EV sales, charging networks continue expanding. More locations, more charging stalls, and higher-powered equipment mean shorter waits and fewer concerns about finding somewhere to charge.
The numbers tell an interesting story. The United States added approximately 18,000 DC fast-charging ports in 2025, a 30% increase over the previous year. Fast-charging sessions also increased by roughly 30%, reaching 141 million. By October 2026, more than 12,000 additional public charging plugs had reportedly been installed at nearly 2,000 locations.
EV adoption won't happen overnight, and the industry has some growing pains to work through. But building reliable charging infrastructure today makes owning an EV easier for tomorrow's buyers.
The cars and the chargers don't have to grow at exactly the same pace. And just because EV sales slow down doesn't mean the millions already on the road stop needing electricity.

About 20%.
That’s the chance workers, on average, think AI will take their job within two years. Among people already using AI at work, it’s closer to 25%.
Those are workers’ expectations, not a forecast of job losses. So far, the researchers haven’t found a clear rise in layoffs or fall in job postings across most of the occupations most exposed to AI.
Still, that offers little comfort to someone struggling to land their first job. Hiring is getting harder in some fields, and the work is changing.
I’m semi-retired and no tech expert. I started using AI out of curiosity, asking it to explain confusing information and help me put my thoughts into words. But I’m also trying to understand the world my grandkids will inherit and what earning a living might look like for them.
Using it hasn’t answered all my concerns. It has helped me understand what it can do and where it falls short.
How are you feeling about it, especially for the younger people in your family?
I just saw where Meta has just released two more capable Muse Models. Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full.
I've been playing around with Muse. Have you tried or even use Muse?
