#EconTwitter today I’m excited to release a database sponsored by @AEACSMGEP, @AEACSWEP , @LGBTQ_Econ to help diversify economic seminar speakers. @jenniferdoleac & @ENPancotti find only 2% of seminar speaker are minority economists, but there are 8% in the discipline. #ASSA2020
Great post by @scwolla. 26% of college students take an economics course. For half of them, it is their first and last course. What do you want them to know? Only 2% of principles students become majors. We need to teach to the other 98% #teachecon

But perhaps the biggest change to economics this century is the so-called "credibility revolution", as researchers eschewed theoretical models in favour of empirical approaches.
Methodology such as difference-in-differences and randomised controlled trials have cemented their place in the literature
But as economics has come to resemble a "hard science", worries about replicability abound, with research suggesting that up to 70 per cent of recently examined economics papers contain some results that cannot be reproduced.
Can the academy keep a close eye on rigour as the subject evolves? Me for the @FT: ft.com/content/ea4d4326-878d…

A lot has been written on it, so in this article, I've posted my recommended links of that literature and a high end view of what has changed and what hasn't changed:

I so rarely get the opportunity to mix #bjj and #economics. This was a fun opportunity to bring those two worlds together. #teachecon

Okay team..this is completely backwards.
When the economy is hot, we risk extending past our production capacity, so we raise rates to tackle the inflation that arises.
When the economy is weak, inflation drops but unemployment soars...so we lower rates to get back to normal.
