Numbers that jump out at you: opioid epidemic has cost U.S. 80 billion so far, 91% of U.S. citizens insured for health care, 9% not covered, but 99% of these are eligible for isurance. 60% of doctors and nurses are said to be burned out.

A de-identified oncology chart goes for apx $3000 on the black market. When you consider the fact that JUST a medication (like Gleevac for example) can cost $10,000 per month, you can see how understanding that data around how and why illness progresses could be very valuable...

In my opinion, artificial intelligence and big data have unevenly penetrated medicine, not only because doctors can’t keep up, but because privacy, impersonal, career-threatening, pay, irregularity, and irrelevance issues.
