This morning at the Nebraska State School Board meeting, I challenged our board members.
I invite you in on my challenge too.
Let’s intentionally talk about the good. So often we focus only on the deficiencies and opportunities for improvement within our school systems. Yes, these conversations are important, and also-we are missing a critical component.
I challenge you to seek out, acknowledge, and speak up about the good things happening in our schools. In every given moment there are innovative, collaborative and impactful academic moments happening in each school across our country. Give voice to these moments.
As our 2023 National Teacher of the Year, @RebeckaMozdeh says “Not every day may be good, but there is good in every day”.
Share the joyous and inspiring work being done by our educators and students every day. With intention discuss, in person through conversation, or online via social media, the good you see.
Imagine the impact this would have if we all commit to this 2x a week for the next year.
Please join me in sharing the good.
Together, let us recognize the dedicated individuals in our noble profession and the life-changing work happening every day. Our students deserve for us to shine a light on work they are doing each and every day. Our students deserve to hear and see us speak highly of the educators that support them.
