Last week, I had a meeting with @PudgyPartners to present our deck for the white-label solution for Pudgy Coffee with @CoffeeCultureTh . I reached out because, since we already have a licensing deal in place and a product ready to go, we haven’t gained much traction—mainly due to logistic issues and target audience, imo.
Steve was very clear that at this stage his focus is distribution, and that he’d be happy to give me pointers on selling to retailers.
The two main takeaways:
1⃣Building in Web2 takes significantly longer. Web2 is not as reactive as Web3, and it typically requires 1 to 1.5 years of planning before rollout—mainly because you have to fight to earn shelf space in major retailers.
2⃣He also mentioned that markets are quite similar in the sense that if something is successful in country A, it will likely be successful in country B. Therefore, success would be replicable from one market to another.
Which brings me back to the post I made in Jan: the focus is to build the business in Thailand and put down deep roots here. Our main clients, were we are getting traction, are luxury hotels — Ritz-Carlton, Rosewood, Amanpuri, Vanderbilt Estate — and we are growing. On the DTC side, we will be pushing our existing Pengu drips through TikTok and Web2 KOLs, as well as launching KOL coffee lines.
While I’d love to push the Web3 side harder with @AbstractEllies, the priority right now is continuing to build in Web2.
PS: I am still sending samples to Miami Igloo HQ and will definitely be ready if the opportunity arises.

Plan: Build strong locally first, incorporating @AbstractEllies & 🐧's vibes as we grow.
🇹🇭's our home base+free/fast shipping, we already have established biz (clients like Ritz-Carlton, Amanpuri, TikTok & thousands of clients).
It just makes sense to double down here!
"as more businesses move onchain, NFTs could become a useful way to represent ownership, experiment with revenue sharing and build communities around products" 🐘☕ – at Choeng Thale, Thailand
NFTs are an area of crypto that i think deserves another look
the 2021 boom and subsequent crash left a lot of people with a negative view of them, but the underlying concept still makes sense to me
as more businesses move onchain, NFTs could become a useful way to represent ownership, experiment with revenue sharing and build communities around products
i expect there's still a lot of room for experimentation beyond the NFT models we saw last cycle

As I mentioned in Jan, the focus has been Web2, DTC, and B2B.
Orders are coming in daily, and we haven’t even started with our Web2 KOLs coffee line yet.
On the B2B side, we locked in clients like Rosewood, Amanpuri, and the Ritz-Carlton, with other ultra-luxury hotels in the pipeline, plus more orders for white-labeling our coffee. We also got a 15,000 custom drip bag PO!
And hopefully the coffee samples we sent to a Web3 company on the other side of the world land well 🤞
Still far from where we need to be, but building a business takes time! ☕🐘 – at Choeng Thale, Thailand

Bravo! As @Fityeth said, the park got this one right! 🙌 – at Choeng Thale, Thailand
A man entered a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park and was killed.
The park has confirmed the tiger will NOT be put down.
GOOD. That’s exactly how it should be.
The tiger didn’t escape. It didn’t attack someone walking down the street. It was minding its own business in its own enclosure when a human entered its territory.
It’s tragic that someone lost their life, but let’s use some common sense here.
You cannot walk into a wild animal’s home, ignore the danger, and then blame the animal for doing exactly what nature designed it to do.
The tiger doesn’t deserve a death sentence because someone made a terrible decision.
Glad the park got this one right.

A year ago I almost puked after checking my position on DeFi… pretty much sent me straight to Web2 😂😂😂 – at Choeng Thale, Thailand
One year ago today, crypto suffered its largest liquidation event in history, wiping out over $19,100,000,000 in leveraged positions.

token2049 made me realize we’re doing crypto conferences completely wrong
15,000 crypto people fly to Singapore just to sell crypto to each other
imagine if those same 15,000 people showed up at the world’s biggest AI conference instead
selling crypto infrastructure, payments, and stablecoins to companies that actually need them
or imagine 15,000 crypto people invading the world’s biggest fashion, gaming, or e-commerce conferences.
not to sell tokens to each other, but to onboard entire industries.
crypto doesn’t need more crypto conferences. it needs to invade Web2 conferences
we’re fighting over the same tiny pie instead of making the pie 100x bigger
p.s. LinkedIn and Stripe are 1 step ahead invading crypto
It is always nice to meet these Web2 coffee clients at their properties in Phuket!
Really stoked about this client!
A few months back we met with Mohan, the owner of Vanderbilt Estate in Phuket, who is the founder of the iconic Tommy Hilfiger brand — the man who built it into a multibillion-dollar global company. We had the privilege of working directly with him on the private label coffee for his mansion.
Working with him, from coffee selection all the way through to label design and production, we’ve now made it happen with @CoffeeCultureTh.
But he went even further: he generously gave me 2 hours of his valuable time for personal mentoring on key strategic business points, then completely blew me away by personally introducing me to several of Thailand’s top luxury hotels.
I’m extremely grateful for this extraordinary opportunity.
