No more playing games.
After 6+ years, we're moving on.
Over this time we:
- Built a layer-1 that has produced 300M+ blocks without going down
- Designed an onchain account management system used by 65,000 users
- Worked with numerous blue chip partners including the likes of AMD and Ubisoft
- Shipped a desktop client, browser extension, mobile friendly wallet, and various other onchain tools and services.
We created an entire stack, owned and built by us.
We promised to take blockchain gaming mainstream. Unfortunately, we didn't. Our plan failed, innovation in gaming was far from where we expected, and we ourselves made plenty mistakes.
So today we're pulling the plug.
Or should we say,
We're becoming the plug.

Update on $UOS and @BithumbOfficial
On 16 October, Bithumb designated UOS as a trading caution asset under DAXA's market size criteria.
We believe the designation was based on outdated CoinMarketCap data.
We are in direct contact with DAXA, the joint association of Korean exchanges, to find a resolution.
No delisting has been announced. While the caution applies, UOS trading and withdrawals on Bithumb remain open; only deposits are paused.
Please rely only on Bithumb's official notices and Ultra's channels. We will share updates here.

Do you know that Ultra runs on a closed set of globally distributed validators across 4 continents. Producing new blocks every 0.4 seconds with perfect uptime since launch in 2021.
Ultra deliberately optimized it's validator design for reliability and performance to avoid unexpected outages and network degradation.

Free transactions could mean free spam, so we built POWER. Accounts stake for a share of network capacity, and when the chain gets congested those transactions go first. We also reserve 20% of capacity for everyone else, so any account can still transact under load.

Even we're surprised by how easy this was. A non-technical team member, no engineering background, built a terminal-style chat dapp this week, complete with a smart contract, frontend, and wallet connection, tested and working in a matter of hours. With the right tools anyone can build.

Respect this level of conviction. Web3 gaming hasn't found its model yet, but Ultra's desktop client and game store are still live and ready when it does. For now our focus is on making Ultra the easiest place to build onchain.

There's a common misconception about Ultra, we were built to be a game distribution platform. Our blockchain was specifically designed to handle the high demands of gaming, and bring more games and gamers onchain. As of yet, gaming has not worked out, but the technology didn't stop working. There are down falls in "decentralisation" but also very clear strengths in speed, cost, and reliability. Question now is what should it be used for.
