On Sunday, 23 November 2025, four Israeli settlers and a soldier attacked the home of Sidqi Ma‘ali (74) in the village of Deir Jarir, Ramallah District, and started throwing stones at family members who were sitting on the porch. Village youths came to the family’s aid, throwing stones at the assailants until they were forced back. About 10 more soldiers soon arrived, and one of them opened fire at a group of youths who were standing nearby filming the incident. He shot village resident Baraa Ma‘ali (24) in the chest, killing him. Since October 2023, Israel has killed 1,025 Palestinians in the West Bank. This is the result of a permissive, lethal open-fire policy afforded near-total impunity by the political leadership, judiciary and military.
