(1) This is what those who criticise ordinary classroom teachers donβt see. 63 mock examinations to be marked in 7 days. On average each paper has 7-8 pages of content. This is my weekend. I do it because I care and appreciate my students and their workβ¦

Every month this year, I intend to give away a full class set of one book via @ANewChapterBks - I truly believe a full class set is one of the most valuable resources a teacher can have when teaching reading.
No faff to enter, just retweet and consider yourself in.
January.

This quote sums up better than I can what I feel about the situation in too many British schools and presents a call to arms for us about how to reverse these trends.
Who else is feeling the gut wrenching anxiety of going back on Monday? #teachertwitter #teaching #uk
I canβt explain it but there is something so humble about @RoryStewartUK. Is it strange I also find him quite attractive too. Such a gentleman.
Biggest mistake ever was choosing BJ over him. Looking forward to reading this over the coming days. #politics #UK

Shout out to every teacher who has all the energy in the world as long as theyβre up and moving but the moment they sit down on a sofa they fall asleep.

Thanks for all the support and encouragement. Itβs amazing to see how we all feel the same way and are not alone! Have a fabulous Sunday all! β€οΈ

Sean, a teacher and one of our hosts described his typical day:
βget up 5am
Out of shower 5.30
Get breakfast and talk to partner about the day ahead (also a teacher)
Leave for work at 6.45
Arrive 7.10
Photocopying, all retrieval tasks prepared, hole punched, place in rooms where I am on the different sites, lessons in correct folders
Then briefings on Mondays/Thursdays
Then teaching
20 min break and 30 min lunch - if I donβt have a free, I am left with about an hour to do other stuff I need to do
Adding behaviour points on SIMs, interventions after school, twilights.
Time disappears into the ether - you still have loads to do when you get home!
I leave school 4.30-5pm
25 mins drive - only time I donβt think about school
5pm onwards - life stuff! I have 4 kids, cleaning, dinner etc
6.30pm dinner
7.15pm into office and work to around 10pm unless mock exams etc and then sometimes later to 11pmβ

A passage from my upcoming book EXPERIENCING ENGLISH LITERATURE

Time to become much more immersed in the world of English teaching. Iβve been inspired by so many around me but I have also been manipulated into thinking that there is one way of teaching. Hopefully my new school will allow me to flourish with my own ideas and methodologies.
Hmmmm and also in highly affluent areas.
