ALT On an example of PEAK Urban's impact in Colombia - Juan Carlos Duque, Universidad EAFIT: "Most of the fast urban growth is going to happen in cities that currently don't have the capabilities to plan for it. Although there are models for predicting urban growth, they are very demanding in terms of data, and require highly qualified human capital to apply these models. We built a model that uses freely available data like satellite images, and combines it with state of the art Artificial Intelligence - it is a globally applicable model that can predict urban growth in environments with scarcity of data. The largest utility company in Colombia is currently using this model to predict urban growth in areas where they don't have data."
