On October 8, Chargé d'Affaires Philip Kern hosted a Caribbean Food Investment roundtable with Intentional Asset Management, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Ravi Ratiram, prospective local investors, and private-sector partners. The discussion focused on mobilizing private investment in Caribbean food systems to strengthen food security, build economic resilience, and deepen U.S.-Caribbean commercial ties.
With Trinidad and Tobago's food import bill running into billions of dollars annually, the search for solutions is attracting international attention. As a result, the United States is facilitating discussions with local stakeholders to explore opportunities on projects that could attract as much as 100 million U.S. dollars in investment.
