.@USIJorg commends Director Squires for advancing rules that align the PTAB with Congress' original intent: a true alternative to district court litigation, not a duplicative tool used by large incumbents to increase cost and risk for small innovators.
The NPRM reflects a long-overdue course correction: curbing serial and parallel challenges, requiring one-forum finality, and increasing transparency around real parties in interest.

The ETHIC Act will weaken the reliability of patent protections in the United States -- and make it more difficult for U.S. startups and inventors to continue pursuing breakthroughs that benefit patients.

This IP Month, we're highlighting proposed federal legislation that would advance USIJ's policy priorities and strengthen America's innovation economy. Up first is the Patent Eligibility Restoration Act (PERA).
PERA would restore a clear statutory standard while preserving existing novelty, non-obviousness, and disclosure requirements. The bill doesn't lower the bar for patentability. Instead, by reaffirming patent eligibility standards rooted in federal law and established precedent, PERA would ensure that inventions are evaluated on their merits rather than disqualified under ambiguous judicial exceptions.
We urge lawmakers to advance PERA and help secure the next generation of U.S. innovation. Learn more in our recent letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee: buff.ly/0tUpqFt

American innovators are at risk of losing their ability to create the next gen of tech breakthroughs. It's up to Congress to change this. Contact Congress now and urge your representatives to pass the PREVAIL Act and RESTORE Act to support US inventors: savetheinventor.com/take-act…
Our alliance members -- the true inventors and entrepreneurs contributing to our premier innovation economy -- are depending on Congress to uphold this responsibility. @USIJorg encourages federal policymakers to reform the U.S. patent system so it serves those it was designed to protect.
ICYMI: @USIJorg urges lawmakers to reject the ETHIC Act and protect innovation.
Check out our statement: buff.ly/BF5896t
We urge lawmakers to move forward with PERA so that American inventors, startups, and investors can once again operate with confidence that their innovations, if novel, nonobvious, and adequately disclosed, will be eligible for patent protection.
