ALT Featured Session: In Her Hands: A Blueprint for Community-led Pilots In Her Hands is a guaranteed income initiative that was launched in 2022 by the Georgia Resilience and Opportunity (GRO) Fund and GiveDirectly. Beyond its goal to deliver cash to 650+ low-income Black women across Georgia, this program was intentionally created and designed to drive powerful narrative change. We are disrupting long held harmful narratives about poverty, gender, and race by centering community voices, telling dignified stories, and illustrating the power of cash. As the cultural phenomenon of GI spreads, we believe that building pilots from a community-centered framework helps to shape an inclusionary vision for future Guaranteed Income & direct cash policies. In this presentation, we will share the blueprint of In Her Hands and how our initiative is building towards visionary change.
