Research from Dr. Raj Khanna & team at the NYU Pain Research Center finds that a new compound reversed four types of chronic pain -- outperforming gabapentin without troublesome side effects -- by indirectly targeting calcium channels.

ALT A short peptide derived from CRMP2 uncouples the Cav2.2-CRMP2 interaction to ameliorate chronic pain. Targeting this interaction with a CRMP2-based small molecule peptidomimetic elicits analgesia and reverses pain behaviors by selectively blocking Cav2.2 channel activity and decreasing neuronal excitability.
