Official line: the “tenor” of the campaign is too nasty, so a debate would only create “division, animosity, and bad will.”
Unofficial line: he can’t sell the product.
If Jolly thought his policies could survive 90 minutes under lights, he’d show up. Candidates who are confident in their record don’t cancel the debate and then lecture the state about “bad faith.”
Floridians deserve to hear both sides. Jolly just told you he doesn’t want that fight.
