Some of the bravest moments at Over the Edge came from the families who stepped up and faced the challenge together. Through nerves, deep breaths, encouragement, and big smiles, moms and their children faced their fears and rappelled 231 feet down the Hilton Universal City Hotel. It was no small thing. We are so proud of these families and inspired by what their courage represents. The bravery it took to go Over the Edge reflects the same strength and resilience we see every day at Union Rescue Mission — facing challenges, taking the next step, and believing a different future is possible. And they are not doing it alone. Case managers, chaplains, social workers, and the entire URM team are there day by day, side by side, offering support and encouragement on the way home. Through partnerships with employers, schools, and training organizations, Union Rescue Mission guests are gaining access to career pathways that can lead to meaningful employment and lasting stability. Guests like Adam are taking on challenging CNC machining training through College of the Canyons—learning new skills, building confidence, and discovering what’s possible through focus and perseverance. We are so proud of our Emmaus Life Transformation Program graduates! 🎓 Today, we celebrated an incredible milestone as these men completed the Emmaus program and stepped into a new chapter of hope, purpose, and transformation. The celebration was filled with worship, Scripture, powerful testimonies, prayer, and words of encouragement. Some moments bring you full circle. Years ago, before a Hollywood career that would include Juwanna Mann, Life, Tour of Duty, and many other film and television roles, actor Miguel A. Núñez Jr. experienced homelessness in Los Angeles—and Union Rescue Mission became part of his story. Last week, Miguel returned to our Downtown Los Angeles campus to reconnect with URM, tour the Mission, and see the work happening today. And next weekend, he’s taking that connection to a whole new height by going Over the Edge for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. For Miguel, this is more than a rappel. Citywide, 40% of people placed through L.A.’s Inside Safe program end up back on the street. At Union Rescue Mission, that number is 20%. These classes give our ladies a fun and meaningful way to learn a new language while exercising their memory, coordination, and communication skills.
