In Brooklyn, NY, @UPROSE, a CJA member group, is proving that community power can deliver real victories. We’re celebrating the construction kick-off of Sunset Park Solar—New York City’s first-ever community-led solar project—on the rooftop of the Brooklyn Army Terminal.

NYC is entering another intense heat wave this week and it’s not just the temperature. The air will be hot and humid, making it harder for your body to cool itself through sweat. This increases the risk of heat-related illness, even for healthy individuals.
Plan ahead to stay cool and safe:
💧 Drink plenty of water
🌳 Limit outdoor activity
👵 Check in on neighbors, especially older adults
❄️ Find your cool option: spend time in an air-conditioned space like a library, café, museum, or a family or friend’s home with AC. Cooling centers are also now open.
Visit NYC.gov/beattheheat to make your heat safety plan and find a cooling center near you!

🌎 Happy Earth Day!
The time to act for climate justice is now. In the midst of climate change denialism and efforts to roll back progress, we can never forget the people power that fuels us.
Future generations, and frontline communities now, are counting on us.
