How does #UPOV guidance give authorities the clarity they need to examine new plant varieties in a technically sound and harmonized way? That question shaped the fifty-seventh session of UPOV's Technical Working Party for Fruit Crops (TWF/57), held in Leipzig, Germany, and hosted by the #Bundessortenamt. Over 120 delegates from UPOV members and observer organisations discussed the standard wording on the duration of plant variety testing, ensuring Test Guidelines remain workable in practice while respecting the requirements of each situation. Discussions also covered revision of the scope of work for five Citrus groups, and progress on draft Test Guidelines for argan, passion fruit, hazelnut, Japanese pear, and other fruit crops.
