Over the weekend in Berlin, UNITE and Global Health Policy Lab brought parliamentarians together for a two-day workshop on CRD policy, focused on strengthening legislative capacity and identifying practical policy tools, which will result in a parliamentary toolkit on CRDs.

On Friday, September 25, UNITE and @Pandemic_Fund convened an inter-ministerial and parliamentary breakfast dialogue on the margins of the UN High-Level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response #PPPR at UNGA81
ALT Health Ministers came together with UNITE parliamentarians, Hon. Javier Maroto Aranzábal and Hon. Mariam Jashi, alongside public health officials and partners from the public and private sectors around one message: preparedness is a shared security priority, and it needs sustained investment, not just emergency funding.
ALT Discussions focused on: 🔹𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽: building financing priorities that endure, with co-investment through mechanisms like the Pandemic Fund 🔹𝗪𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲-𝗼𝗳-𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: real coordination between Ministries of Health, Finance, and Defense 🔹𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: how budgets, legislation, and public trust keep commitments alive across political cycles 🔹𝗪𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲-𝗼𝗳-𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽: aligning public purpose with private-sector capability With preventive health spending back to pre-pandemic levels by 2023, the conversation was a timely reminder that pandemic readiness is a cost-effective insurance policy for economic stability and national security, grounded in One Health and nationally led action.

المركز مجمع قادة من مجالات السياسة والأعمال و الميديا و بيعمل اكتر شيء بحترمه و بقدره في صنع السياسات العامة بربط السياسات بالبحوث الرصينة و بنظرة شاملة لتأثير اي سياسة علي كل أصحاب المصلحة.
يمكن ملف التغيرات المناخية كان واحد من أهم الملفات اللي في نطاق اهتمامي سواء و انا في مجلس النواب أو في مجلس الشيوخ و قدمت فيه أول مشروع قانون لمجلس النواب للتكيف مع التغيرات المناخية جنب عشرات الأدوات البرلمانية اللي استخدمتها لمتابعة الملف ده و اللي أثره بيتقاطع مع ملفات الصحة و الزراعة و الصناعة و التجارة ، خصوصاً انه مصر من أكثر الدول تأثراً بتبعات التغيرات المناخية.
اتمني اني اقدر اتعلم من المجموعة المختارة بعناية خبرات مختلفة و متعددة من مختلف القطاعات و عبر القارات و اني اقدر بيها اضيف لخبرتي السياساتية في الملف ده.

I am Honoured to share that I have been selected as a member of the Oxford Climate Leadership Research Centre at the University of Oxford.
The Centre brings together leaders from politics, business and sport to explore how leadership can drive real climate action and to study, through rigorous research, what actually works.
For me, climate has never been a standalone file.
During my parliamentary work , i have introduced to the Egyptian Parliament the first draft bill on adaptation to Climate Change and I have also introduced tenths of different parliamentary oversight and legislative interventions on the same file
Climate is a key file that intersects with the People’s health , ability to work and general wellness and i am very keen to follow up how Egypt finances a just transition, how heat and water stress affect public health, and how women and children, who bear the heaviest burden of climate shocks are protected in law and policy.
I look forward to contributing to the Centre's research, learning from fellow members across sectors and continents, and bringing those insights back to Egypt's legislative agenda because climate leadership is ultimately measured by what we change at home.
