The event may be over, but the work continues.
The national launch of the Domestic Violence Toolkit brought us together around a shared purpose: breaking the silence around domestic violence and turning awareness into action.
An initiative spearheaded by the Office of the Attorney General, the European Union and the PACE Justice Project and UNDP, the Toolkit Launch introduced a resource centred on understanding domestic violence and supporting informed action. It was a moment to connect, share its purpose, and reflect on the role we all play in creating safer communities.
Behind every conversation about domestic violence is someone who deserves to feel safe, heard, and supported. This toolkit is a step towards turning awareness into action, and reminding those affected that they do not have to face it alone.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this milestone meaningful. The event may be over, but the work continues. Let’s keep sharing the tools, starting the conversations, and making support more accessible.

What if your air-conditioning system could tell you something was wrong before it failed?
That’s the opportunity digital technology is bringing to the cooling sector.
From digital monitoring and diagnostic tools to smarter controls and real-time access to system information, new technologies are changing how cooling systems are installed, monitored, and maintained, helping technicians identify problems earlier, improve performance, and reduce unnecessary energy use.
Through the Digital Tools in Cooling project, funded by the Government of Luxembourg, and spearheaded by the Ministry of Planning, Economic Affairs & Development, these technologies are being introduced and demonstrated in Trinidad and Tobago, including through partnerships with local institutions such as The University of the West Indies and The University of Trinidad and Tobago.
The goal goes beyond introducing new equipment. It is about demonstrating what is possible when technology, technical expertise and sustainability come together.
Smarter systems. Better decisions. Greater efficiency.
A more sustainable future for cooling.

🇹🇹 Celebrating 64 Years of Independence
The National Anthem of Trinidad and Tobago is more than a song. Its words capture the diversity, unity and shared aspirations that make our nation truly special.
As we celebrate 64 years of Independence, we are reminded of the values that bind us together and our shared responsibility to continue building a peaceful, inclusive and prosperous Trinidad and Tobago.
On this special occasion, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) extends warm wishes to the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
May we continue to grow together, united through our differences and inspired by the words of our National Anthem:
“Here every creed and race find an equal place, and may God bless our nation.” 🇹🇹
Happy 64th Independence Day, Trinidad and Tobago!

The future of sustainable cooling isn’t only about better technology. It’s about the people equipped to use it.
Across Trinidad and Tobago, HVAC technicians are gaining the specialized skills and hands-on experience needed to use emerging digital tools, improve energy efficiency, and support a cooling sector that is ready for the future.
Through specialized training, technicians, including female technicians, are building their place in a traditionally male-dominated field and are strengthening the local expertise needed to turn innovation into real-world impact.
And training is only part of the story. With equipment packages that support technicians beyond the classroom, the aim is to help translate new knowledge into better on-the-job practices.
Because a cleaner, more efficient cooling future doesn’t happen with technology alone. It happens when we invest in the people who will make it possible.
This initiative forms part of the UNDP Digital Tools in Cooling project, funded by the Government of Luxembourg, and spearheaded by the Ministry of Planning, Economic Affairs & Development.

For AI to be a positive force, it must be inclusive, responsible, and designed with people at its center .
For UNDP, this is at the heart of the conversation. Technology and innovation are not ends in themselves. Their value lies in how they can contribute to sustainable human development, helping societies address complex challenges while expanding people’s choices and opportunities.
Because positive AI should ultimately mean progress for people.
A stronger justice system begins with investing in the people who deliver justice.
Through the PACE Justice Criminal Defence Optimisation Training Programme, criminal defence practitioners across Trinidad and Tobago strengthened their advocacy, trial-readiness and case-management skills—recognising that an efficient criminal justice system depends on every actor across the justice chain playing their part in reducing delay and addressing case backlogs, frontally.
Importantly, the Programme positioned the Criminal Defence Bar as an active partner in justice reform—equipping practitioners with practical tools to advance cases efficiently while safeguarding due process, effective representation and the rights of accused persons.
Implemented through the PACE Justice Project, this initiative reflects the shared commitment of the European Union, UNDP and national justice sector partners (Ministry of Justice under its statutory body, the Public Defenders' Department of the Legal Aid & Advisory Authority of Trinidad and Tobago to strengthening professional capacity and advancing a criminal justice system that is more efficient, timely and people-centred.
Investing in practitioners. Strengthening institutions. Advancing justice.

Human ingenuity has always pushed the boundaries of what is possible. AI doesn’t change that, but it may change how quickly and how far we can go.
At UNDP, we see technology as a tool for expanding human potential, one that, when developed and used responsibly, can help accelerate progress towards solutions that improve people’s lives.
Because innovation has always started with people. AI can help us take it further.
🇹🇹 A Historic Step Forward in Digital Transformation
A landmark moment as the Ministry of Land and Legal Affairs and UNDP sign an MOU for the Digital Transformation of Land Related Services.
This partnership marks an important step towards more efficient, accessible and people-centred public services through digital innovation.
A historic day. A landmark project. A more digital future for Trinidad and Tobago. 🇹🇹

Can AI help us tackle one of the biggest challenges of our time?
From analysing climate data and predicting extreme weather to improving energy efficiency and helping us make smarter use of resources, AI is opening new possibilities for climate action.
In this #AIMinute, we explore how AI can help turn data into insight, and insight into action.
The technology alone isn’t the solution. But used responsibly and with purpose, it can be a powerful tool in building a more resilient, sustainable future.
AI can process information, generate ideas, and help us work in new ways. But some things simply can’t be automated.
Empathy. Trust. Understanding. Human connection.
In this #AIMinute, we explore why, even as AI becomes more capable, people must remain at the center. The goal isn’t to replace what makes us human, but to use technology to augment our abilities and create more opportunities for meaningful human connection.
Because a positive AI future is ultimately a human one.
As Artificial Intelligence becomes part of the infrastructure that powers governments, businesses, and public services, the debate is no longer just about technology.
It's about sovereignty, opportunity, and resilience.
Should countries rely entirely on AI services built and controlled elsewhere? Or should they also have the ability to adapt, deploy, and govern AI on their own terms?
Our latest blog explores the growing debate around Open AI Models, what they are, why they matter, and what they could mean for Trinidad and Tobago's digital future.
The decisions made today could shape how innovation, value, and capability are distributed for decades to come.

What happens when AI enters the classroom?
Used thoughtfully, AI can open new possibilities for learning, helping to personalize education, support teachers and give students new ways to explore, create and understand.
But technology should support learning, not replace the human connection at the heart of it.
In this #AIMinute, we explore the potential of AI in education and why keeping humans in the loop- educators, students, and communities- is essential to making sure it enhances, rather than defines, how we learn.
🎶 THIS ONE IS FOR THE YOUTH! 🔥
Today, on International Youth Day, we’re turning up the volume on youth voices by releasing the UNDP Youth Anthem.
Created with young people, inspired by their voices, and driven by the belief that every young person has a story, a voice, and a role to play in shaping the future.
This is more than a song. It’s our voice. Our energy. Our future. 🌎💫

Born in Trinidad and Tobago. Celebrated around the world!
The steelpan is one of our nation’s greatest gifts to the world. An instrument born from creativity, resilience, and the remarkable ability to transform ordinary materials into extraordinary music.
From its beginnings in the communities of Trinidad and Tobago to its place on stages across the globe, the steelpan has become a powerful symbol of our identity, innovation and cultural pride.
At Siparia Deltones, the panyard reflects everything the steelpan represents. It is more than a place where music is made; it is a community space where generations come together, young people develop their talents, traditions are preserved, and opportunities for entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods can take root.
This World Steelpan Day, UNDP TT celebrates the pioneers who created the steelpan, the communities that nurtured it, and everyone carrying its sound, and its legacy, into the future.
More than an instrument… more than music! Happy World Steelpan Day!
