If the journal staff is too slow to address pubpeer concerns (say almost a year), submit your findings as a comment for review in the same journal. I got the EIC's attention in <24 hours. @MicrobiomDigest you may have a stack of potential publications on your desk

🚨 New paper: Introducing MIND (Monge Inception Distance)
Everyone agrees that FID is broken, requires too many samples, slowing down evals.
MIND requires 10x fewer samples, is more robust, faster to compute.

50+ retractations so far, and these guys are still on payroll. My advice : If you ever get a candidate that co-signed papers with Didier Raoult. Stay away. Don't bring unethical and unprofessional "Marseille science" to your university.

Prof @Pr_E_Chabriere has a pubpeer record of unethical and photoshopped publications. He also has a criminal record for threatening a cop. In the post below, he celebrates using taxpayer money to initiate SLAP lawsuits. He's still on payroll. Wonder why scientists leave France?

This paper should be retracted. The authors did not write it, they outsourced thinking to AI, and they published hallucinations.
1. All the arguments are nonsense;
2. It's substantially AI-written;
3. Several citations are made-up or in error.
The authors are frauds.
My co-authors and I just published something in Clinical Psychology Review, and it's open access. It's called "One Size Fits None: A Call for an Idionomic Revolution."
We put together a story that has been sitting in plain sight. Applied psychology has made painfully slow progress, and part of the reason traces back to the ergodic error and to the racist, sexist, and antisemitic roots of traditional biostatistics. The majority of American Psychological Association presidents from 1892 to 1947 were card carrying eugenicists. The laws that later shaped the Holocaust were written here in the United States two decades earlier, with the active support of mainstream psychology. Most textbooks treat this as distant history. Almost none notice that the same assumptions still quietly define what we call good science.
This is an article of hope though. We lay out another way forward through the emerging science of idionomics, an approach that finally puts the individual client at the center. Do we know it will succeed? Honestly, no. But the path we have been on is scientifically and morally wrong, and if evidence based therapy is going to move ahead, it needs truly new ideas.

Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Critics identified multiple fabricated or erroneous citations in the paper (non-existent works, wrong DOIs/journals). This matches common AI hallucination patterns.

business tip : if you are a bar near a big conference center, name your drinks after sandwiches "the Ruben, the blt, etc" purchasing alcohol is usually forbidden in work related travel. but a 20 dollars sandwich is perfectly acceptable

A cartel of corrupt and unethical scientists from IHU Marseille fell after years of scientific misconduct. After countless rétractations, this is now a HBO documentary. Raoult retired, but his coauthors are still on payroll

if you plan to study history as a major, I recommend taking stem as a minor. that way you don't humiliate yourself by talking nonsense
Historian Jared Diamond: "If Genghis Khan had been born 10 years later or 200 miles further away, we wouldn't know anything about him."
Jared Diamond: "Genghis Khan created the largest land empire in world history, all the way from China to Poland. And yet, there were other people who tried—Attila the Hun and Tamerlane the Turk. Why did Genghis Khan succeed?
Well, within the last 10 years, students of tree rings have figured out that on the Mongolian steppe, the wettest time in the last 2,000 years was the decade of Genghis Khan's birth. If he had been born 10 years later or 200 miles further away, we wouldn't know anything about Genghis Khan. But he happened to have been born at the right time and place because with all that rain, that meant hay to feed sheep and goats, to feed Mongol babies, and it also meant hay to feed Mongol horses to ride into battle.
So Genghis Khan was someone at the right time and place, but he had no idea, and we didn't have any idea until this tree ring study of the last decade."
