This just popped up in mentions. Not sure I’ve ever spent longer on a visual abstract as this was made entirely by hand (couldn’t find a simple way to automate it). Hopefully it presented all the curated genes in a visually compelling way. #neveragain

2023 was an exciting year -- here's what Dr. Russell Saneto, DO, PhD of @seattlechildren shared has him motivated and #LookingForwardin2024 for mitochondrial medicine. Dr. Saneto joined us in December for the Ask the Mito Doc 2023 Wrap Up. Watch: bit.ly/AskMitoDocDEC2023

ALT I think the biggest thing that happened to me this past year is we've been working with adult stroke, and we have a study looking at the MCA, which is the big artery in the brain that gets clogged and causes ischemic stroke. What we can do is we can take a piece of muscle at the beginning when they show up to the hospital with acute stroke. We can actually give the patient's own free mitochondria, that we isolate from the muscle, back to the patient, and we can get improvement in stroke. So this opens up a whole lot of other ideas about how we can possibly treat mitochondrial diseases. Dr. Russell Saneto, DO, PhD Ask the Mito Doc Dec 2023
