Mr. Bhagwat speaks of an “inclusive” Hindu Rashtra. Yet outside his New York venue, a supporter shouted: “Muslims must go to Pakistan/Bangladesh. India is for Hindus.” Now comes interfaith outreach to London. We request you all to not be deceived by his charm offensive campaign

India’s police have detained dozens of protesters, including ‘Cockroach’ party leaders and journalists, as crowds attempted to gather for a planned mass anti-government demonstration in New Delhi.

#India: We are concerned by reports of mass detentions of demonstrators, protest leaders, members of civil society organisations, lawyers and journalists, before and during today’s large-scale demonstrations in Delhi.
We call on the authorities to ensure that the right to peaceful assembly is fully respected and fulfilled.

Alarming: on the day the Supreme Court ordered the police to allow journalists to do their job, Delhi Police bundle a woman reporter into the van. This despite her and us repeatedly telling the police that she’s with the media, and showing her badge.

UPDATE: Three Newslaundry reporters detained by Delhi Police.
Our reporters @AshwineSingh, @SavyasachiAstha, and @anmolpritamND have been detained while covering the October 10 protest. Delhi Police have also seized Newslaundry’s official phones, which our reporters were using to carry out their reporting duties.
When the journalists identified themselves as media personnel, they were reportedly told, “Koi media nahin hai.”
Around 30 people have been put into a single bus, including protesters and journalists. Our reporters have identified Inspector Dhan Singh Malik as the officer who snatched the phones.
Journalists are there to report, not to protest. They were not obstructing police operations. On what grounds are they being detained and their phones seized?
@DelhiPolice must explain these actions and allow journalists to do their jobs without intimidation.

In solidarity with @sighyush and all other reporters who are being detained simply for doing their jobs - to hold power to account.
My colleague, one of India's best investigative reporters, Ayush Tiwari @sighyush has been detained by Delhi Police near ITO.
He was not even at Jantar Mantar.
He had his press card prominently displayed.
He told the police many times he was a journalist.
Despite that he was bundled into a van and taken away.
From mass detention, arrests of students, activists, politicians and journalists, illegal handling of female protestors by male police officers, halting metro services, to complete lock down. Indian capital city witnesses an undeclared emergency for demanding fair election.

Video shared online shows the moment the minaret of Ujjain's Shahi Masjid collapsed onto the historic mosque in a crane accident during the controversial demolition drive linked to the road-widening project for the 2028 Simhastha Kumbh.
Despite the community’s efforts and cooperation, the administration proceeded with the demolition of the mosque’s minaret, reportedly amid disagreements among officials and claims of pressure from higher authorities.

For the Muslims of Ujjain, this was not merely a structure—it was a 600-year-old heritage, a living testament to their history, faith and belonging. Yet, when they stood to protect it, the brutality unleashed upon them and the manner in which they were forced to demolish a portion of their own historic mosque was deeply painful and disturbing. What happened was not merely the destruction of a wall; it was an assault on memory, heritage and dignity. For a State entrusted with protecting its citizens and their heritage, such treatment is profoundly shameful.

Investigation by @RitikaChopra__ sends shocking waves. Two Election Commissioners who registered dissent on the SIR process and raised questions were put in dark. A huge blow to democratic process of EC. This illegal practice is designed to deny votes to lakhs, mostly Muslims.
The Election Commission of India is under fire like never before.
The SIR has struck 13 crore names off draft rolls, putting the EC at the centre of intense public debate over its role in deciding who gets to vote — and who doesn’t.
HOWEVER, what nobody knew: through that same period, some of the sharpest questions were being asked from inside.
Out today, after months of work. Our #ExpressInvestigation 🧵

See how Islamophobia is ingrained into everyday functioning of Hindutva governments in India regardless of union or state. Muslim bureaucrats indiscriminately excluded from government functions. An MP who exposed it is being grilled. The vile face of hate. Pathetic.
I tweeted about deliberate exclusion of Muslim IPS & IAS officers from Amit Shah’s meetings. @WBPolice filed FIR on me for tweet below & called me for interrogation tomorrow to Bishnupur PS. I will be going . Will also ask them why Bushara Bano been transferred.
