Yes, if you want to legitimize the result of a referendum intended to be legally binding you must run it as a legally binding referendum - with a requirement for a super-majority. Anything else is illegitimate!

If you can downplay the wishes of the most significant petition in the UK Parliaments' Petiiton websites' history it somewhat brings into question the credibility of the whole site and any pretence that any petition is worth conducting. It's an insult to democracy and the people
