June Jordan, a trailblazing queer poet, was born #OTD in 1936.
Jordan was a @Cal professor and founded Poetry for the People, or P4P.
She lives on through P4P, which teaches students the power of poetry to change the world. 🌎🕊️

ALT An illustration of June Jordan appears alongside her poem titled “On a New Year’s Eve.” Amid the pain of loss and grief that is present within the poem, Jordan invokes collective joy and agency. As she writes, “it is this time / that matters / it is this history / I care about / the one we make together.”
