Farmers have been asking Ottawa for basic income for a while. Now PEI oyster farmers show us why: disease has wiped out their crops, debt is mounting, and independent growers fear losing their farms to big corporations, right as Canada's food security hits a critical low.

We deserve that share because it is our capital. We did the work that trained the AI models. Public dollars paid for the R&D. It is rightful and just to distribute a percentage of the wealth AI generates to all of us.

The Somerville Guaranteed Basic Income pilot results are in:
People started new jobs, switched industries, moved toward full-time hours, and dropped the second job they couldn't sustain.
Cash didn't pull people out of work. It gave them room to work better.

The most common word expressed by basic income pilot experiment participants is "breathe", as in "I felt like I could finally breathe." Think about that. A basic amount of money to afford basics is akin to oxygen. Thus, the status quo is akin to constantly strangling everyone.
That's why there are so many positive effects. Imagine an experiment that tested a control group where everyone was constantly strangled versus a treatment group that wasn't.
This is also why it's so goddamn messed up to see people argue against UBI. It's the same thing as arguing that yes, in fact it is good for people to strangle them. They need the incentive. Who would do anything if they weren't strangled?
Being strangled is FREEDOM!
I've been researching the idea of Unconditional Basic Income since 2013. Here's a list of findings I've compiled from various UBI experiments, unconditional cash transfer studies, and cash dividend research.
The data speaks for itself.

Ireland's artist basic income paid back much of what it cost. That's why it's now permanent.
Now South Korea is following: the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has announced plans to develop its own basic income model for artists by the end of 2026.

The anti-datacenter movement was always going to be the inevitable response of rushing into AI adoption without first implementing unconditional basic income. Did you think people would be excited for their families to lose their incomes while survival income depends on jobs?

Stockton, California, gave 125 residents $500 a month for a two-year guaranteed-income pilot. The results challenged assumptions: recipients were more likely to be employed full-time, while also reporting greater financial stability and improved well-being zurl.co/WQswD

It's how everyone benefits directly from economic progress.

The biggest threat to capitalism are those who insist that any attempt to manage the downsides of it and share the upsides is somehow communism. The Nordic nations are not communist nations. They simply give a shit about their people who comprise their mixed-market economies.
