Plain and simple, #Project2025 would decimate higher education. Here's how.

Yesterday, I stood with former UArts students, workers, and my colleagues to address the school's collapse and the legislation we passed to prevent it from happening again. What happened at UArts was unconscionable, but we’re committed to ensuring it never happens again.

When @UArts closed, students and staff were left with no answers, no plans, and no accountability. I’m proud to have worked with colleagues to lay the groundwork for new regulations that will protect Pennsylvania colleges and universities and the communities that depend on them.

#UArts's closure is an irreparable harm to our city. In the midst of this, powerful advocacy by staff and students led to change. We’re with the UArts community in seeking accountability, and we hope to prevent others from experiencing these hardships.

I'm proud to be part of the work to ensure that those who work at and attend any institution of higher learning in our Commonwealth will be protected from the chaos and disrespect that has harmed the #UArts community and our City.

University of the Arts may be able to provide health insurance for employees in Aug, the school’s lawyer says in court. But maybe not. (Plus, state AG confirms an investigation is underway.) Story: inquirer.com/education/uarts…

Thank you @newskag at @PhillyInquirer for continuing to shed light on the shameful behavior of @UArts Trustees.

Join us in court tomorrow as we demand accountability from @UArts with the help of @R_A_Hancock at @WWDLawyers, and @AFTunion & @AFTPA!
We just sent our petition to @PAAttorneyGen w/ over TWO THOUSAND of your signatures! We need a full investigation into the catastrophic closure of @UArts. Thank you @SenatorSaval & @RepBenWaxman for your support to bring justice to the UArts community & all of Philadelphia.
Today, #UArtsUnion faculty & staff visited the office of @UArts Trustee Ralph Citino, CPA & talked w/ Philadelphians about the complete lack of communication from the UArts board. Philly needs to know: WHERE is the MONEY??

It is extremely disheartening to know that faculty and staff still do not have the financial information that was requested, nor did they receive a definitive date on when they will obtain access to that information.
During this time it is important that we continue to advocate for everyone that was negatively impacted by the closure. Let’s continue to demand for #UArts to fulfill their legal obligation to negotiate with @UAPhilly!

Unacceptable. #UArts needs to make good on its obligations to the faculty and staff who made it great. This is more than just a moral obligation—this is a legal obligation. I stand with @UAPhilly.

Grateful to my colleagues in the House, esp. @RepBenWaxman, @RepHarris, and @RyanBizzarro, for their work in organizing this hearing on the closure of #UArts to give space to the voices and experiences of the students and workers.
@RepHarris chair of @PA_HouseApprops thanks @RepBenWaxman and @RyanBizzarro for hosting this hearing and that conversations with the @PAAttorneyGen about an investigation are happening. The benefits the city has received from the brilliance of @UArts can’t be overstated.
