This past weekend, we proudly sponsored the second annual UC Latino Physician Consortium, bringing together physicians, medical students, residents, fellows, and alumni to advance conversations around Latino health and healthcare access 🩺 It was also a pleasure connecting with Governor Candidate Xavier Becerra at the consortium! We’re grateful to be part of these important conversations and to support efforts that strengthen healthcare access and improve health outcomes for Latino patients, families, and communities across California. 💙

We’re proud to endorse Adam Bojak for New York State Assembly ✊ The health of our communities depends on expanding access to high quality healthcare and on ensuring the healthcare providers who care for our communities have the resources and support they need. Bojak’s platform includes protecting and funding Medicaid and community health providers, expanding access to healthcare, and investing in the health of New Yorkers. These priorities matter to the patients, families, and communities across Western New York 💙

Going on strike was not a decision our providers made lightly. No clinician wants to step away from their patients or be anywhere other than caring for the people who count on them. But sometimes, caring means speaking up when the conditions needed to provide quality care aren’t being addressed. After months of negotiations, our providers at LifeLong have reached a point where they firmly believe collective action is necessary to make sure their concerns about workload, staffing, and patient care are heard 💙 #PatientCare #PatientsFirst #CommunityHealth

More than 160 doctors, NPs, PAs, and other providers are going on strike this Monday, September 28 📣 After months of negotiations, LIfeLong's stall tactics and lack of urgency at the bargaining table have left us no choice but to take action. Our contract expires this Sunday, September 27, and we're ready to stand together for the care our patients deserve. To care for the East Bay, we need properly staffed clinics and workload protections that let us provide quality care. This is about standing up for our patients, our profession, and our community 💙 Join us in front of the William Jenkins Health Center all day Monday, with a rally and press conference from 11 am to 1 pm. #patientcare #strikeready #healthcare #communityhealth #1u

Yesterday, providers at LifeLong Medical Care spent their lunch break picketing at six health centers across the East Bay to make their voices heard. Thank you to every provider and ally who showed up 💙 Patients across Alameda and Contra Costa counties deserve the highest quality care and providers deserve a contract that protects the time, resources, staffing, and working conditions they need to deliver it.  A strike vote is currently underway 👀 Stay tuned for updates 📣

For months, our providers at LifeLong Medical Care have brought proposals to the bargaining table in good faith to address their working conditions. What we're asking for isn't unreasonable: transparency around patient panel sizes, safe staffing ratios, and protection of our professional judgment so we can give our patients the quality care they deserve. Communities benefit when providers have the time, support and resources to care for patients. But if workloads continue to grow without the proper support, wait times can increase while visit times decrease, and burnout can push experienced providers to their limits—and ultimately out of the clinics and communities they serve. That’s why we’re coming together this Wednesday. Because better working conditions aren’t just about the people who provide care, it’s about protecting continuity of care, access to essential healthcare services, and maintaining that high standard of care that patients across the East Bay deserve ✊ #1u #patientsfirst #communityhealth #healthcare #faircontractnow

Our physicians had a wonderful time this past weekend hosting Sara Hernandez, Esq., candidate for California State Senate in Los Angeles! Meeting with policymakers and community leaders is a vital part of advocating for our profession and the patients we serve. Our members bring a unique perspective to conversations about healthcare legislation, one grounded in the daily realities of caring for patients. Thank you to everyone who joined us for a thoughtful conversation on the issues facing our profession and our communities. From access to care to supporting the physician workforce. Our members were glad to share their experiences and ask questions. #doctors #advocacy #patientsfirst #healthcare

Today, we take a moment for the physicians who are struggling, the colleagues we have lost, and the importance of caring for one another. Taking a break, asking for help, making time for the people and things that bring you joy, and checking in on a colleague are all ways we can care for ourselves and one another. If you or someone you know is struggling, you're not alone. Call or text 988, or chat at 988lifeline.org, for free, confidential support. #physicianwellbeing #endthestigma #suicideprevention

This Labor Day, we celebrate the people who keep our communities moving and the power we have when we stand together ✊ Workers don’t have to accept the status quo. When we organize, speak up, and stand together, our individual concerns become our collective power and that's our strength 💪 Together, we have what it takes to create real change 📣

Women’s equality is about having a voice that is heard, respected, and valued. Today, we celebrate the women who have challenged inequity, strengthened our profession, and fought for a healthcare system where patients come first. However, the fight isn't over. We stand with every woman fighting for the respected, recognition, and resources she has rightfully earned and deserves. #womensequalityday #equality #equity

The care provided by UC attending physicians should be decided by UC attending physicians. Decisions related to patient care should never be made without physicians in the room. As physicians across the UC health system come together to organize, the UAPD is building a collective voice to protect what matters most: the quality of care we provide, our ability to advocate for our patients, and the future of our profession. Unionizing gives physicians the power to respond and be heard when problems arise, having a meaningful voice in decisions impacting patient care and working conditions. Join us for a virtual town hall on Monday, August 24 at 7 PM to learn what organizing could mean for UC attending physicians! Come be part of the conversation about what we can accomplish when we have a voice together.

Our UAPD Board and members are all in at the AFSCME Convention this week! The power felt in the room when unions come together is hard to put into words. The fight, the drive, the solidarity ✊ As a union of clinicians, organizing gives us a real voice in the fight for better patient care and a better quality of life for our patients. We're proud to be an AFSCME local, standing together and fighting for every healthcare worker's autonomy 📣 #unionstrong #solidarity #1u

Voting #unionyes is about advocacy for our clinicians, our patients, and our patients. This campaign has never been about being against Banner. It's been about what primary care can look like when clinicians are able to show up and advocate for their patients without sacrificing their own well-being, and speak up without fear of retaliation. #unionelection #1u #solidarity #healthcare

Every clinician remembers why they chose the path of primary care. For Dr. Elizalde, it was the chance to sit with a patient, listen, connect and guide them through the healthiest and most challenging of times. But now, many clinicians feel that ability slipping out from under them. Buried under inboxes, shrinking time with patients, and decisions made by administration without them in the room. Ballots are due back soon. If you're a primary care physician or APP at Banner, this is your moment to decide what the future of care looks like. #1u #unionyes #unionelection #healthcare
