The title he won btw
Is it time to start questioning Xabi Alonso's pedigree as a manager? Won a great title in Germany during an off year, failed at Madrid, hasn't contributed anything to the tactical landscape of the game, and is struggling after making some big money signings at Chelsea. 🤔

Weekly reminder xabi’s model is untenable unless you want Palmer and caicedo ran into the ground just to keep this farce going until jan

“Would any of them swap places with you” 😮‍💨 People before this weren’t deeping just how pathetic Mbappe’s campaign is. -dropped one of the worst domestic 2nd halves to a season. Wasn’t Madrids best domestic player -not an top 5 player in the UCL -overrated asf WC

Your wife Zirkee had zero sot, zero dribbles completed, measly one duel won. Where was the liquid footy and control you promised us.
Rashford is 30 years of age and still knuckle- balling 1v1’s into the keeper. Abysmal player.

Any xG talk with 3 game sample is inappropriate. It's a probabilistic metric that gains value over large samples like 20+ games and even then doesn't say much in isolation. It should be read along with shots, xG/shot, box entries, who xG falls to, etc to analyse a team's attack.

Ye physically he’s game breaking but his motor when attempting to fully “maximize” him, it can become glaring obvious when it’s strained Vs Brazil, 1st HF he was completely tasked w Norway ball progression as they went long. By 55th min he was gassed & late on 2/3 backpost runs
Lots of people have been praising this when the usage till now has been worrisome. His overall game was always there, but Pep didn’t use it every game to manage his fitness

Would be a lot more worried if not for his showing at the WC just a few months ago. Multiple factors at play for current form would say. Madrid fitness staff is poor ie pintus. (Look at hawk tua bulk and mbappe 1st half of 24/25) 2nd is the liquid diet he was on for surgery
Is Vini really washed

We have seen Madrid players under more physical and mental distress such as the aforementioned Mbappe when he first joined

Kobbie Mainoo has been lights out recently. In my opinion, he used to be a moments midfielder - someone that stuck out in the memory for quality of technique and actions that carried more aesthetic value than on-pitch value. Recently (honestly since Michael Carrick took over), he's been a much more complete midfielder, where his data backs up his hype. For me, it starts with responsibility. In his first two seasons, he was in the bottom quartile for passes received, passes completed, and final third entries (vs. team median) among T5 midfielders. He was also in the 50th and 76th percentile for xThreat received; as in, how valuable were the passes he was receiving, as well as in the 82nd percentile for offensive duels won (VTM). So in years 1 and 2, a low touch, advanced receiver under-pressure. This also aligns to my contention that he was a "moments midfielder", as these actions will look more impressive than they are actually valuable. Last season, he made a big leap for all three of passes received, passes completed, and final third entries (VTM) - he was in the top half among T5 midfielders. His xThreat received fell to the 21st percentile, and this all makes sense - he's receiving earlier in possession, and more often. But, is this evolution really a good thing? Looking at the second image, his total VAEP over the past three seasons has been: - 23/24: 29th percentile - 24/25: 24th percentile - 25/26: 77th percentile So yes, the evolution is a good thing. He's getting on the ball more, he's positively impacting the game more, and the overall value he's contributing is higher. Oh, and even though his xThreat received has dropped, his off duels won VTM was still the exact same, so he didn't lose proficiency in tight spaces or under pressure when he was in those situations. And this season, he might be taking it to an even higher level. - comfortably 1st among PL midfielders for prg carry distance p90 - 75th percentile for xA p90 - 88th percentile for line breaking passes p90 Its like he was overrated due to biases of him being flashy, young, an academy product, on one of the biggest teams ITW, etc... but over the past 6 months of club football he's actually quantitatively been absolutely top, right at the same time the novelty of the things that biased people in the first place wore off. Now, was he capable of handling a larger volume of actions earlier, based on the things flashed in the first two seasons? I don't know, and I'm open to either answer. The fact is that he didn't, and I tend to use Occam's razor for evaluating volume metrics (within possession adjusted or team environment contexts); to me, the simplest answer for why a player didn't touch the ball as often is because they weren't good enough to earn the touches. Regardless, this is what a breakout season looks like. He still has the same core issues as before (weak in the air, minimal ground coverage), but his in-possession value has scaled from moments to sustained value. Somehow I think he might be underrated now.

Ik he’s playing around but more of a general thing. Still find it crazy it’s not consensus that Neymar was the best player from 2017 to 21 The peak league campaign can hang with anyone from that period, the peak UCL ko performances and finally CA21 int wise
His best in the world 😭😭

You know how funny it is to be complaining about how faulty cc/key pass are just to ignore these bcc due to poor touches (bar Mainoo) Incredibly funny larper
Untied fans will ignore stuff like this and then use Bruno’s chances created stat (the pass before the shot) to brag about him being the most creative player itw. Where was this “creative machine” today? Created more for the other team than he did for us.

Regardless of how poor utd were at disturbing city shape in final 3rd held together by Anderson. Mainoo kept it ticking in 1st and 2nd phase, calmed game down at times weaving thru pressure Disgusting he got compared to mls

Bottom 3 in field tilt, billed as a jdp principles coach but needs Xhaka to hold his hand. Had a thin n lacklustre midfield to begin with but dished 140ms on Rodgers. Now wholly reliant on caicedo to shield, who’s essentially a stop gap Even if u juice 2nd ball automatism 🔇
