And so began my love affair with Brasil.

Nothing like a Q&A with NANNY actress & Rising Star Award recipient @MameAnnaDiop & @TyraMartin on a Friday night!
Had a great time with @MameAnnaDiop , her lovely mother and the adoring audience at the #ChiFilmFest screening of NANNY.
Congratulations and continued success!
Last night, we had the absolute honor of welcoming @MameAnnaDiop to the 58th #ChiFilmFest to screen Nikyatu Jusu's NANNY. Presenting Anna Diop with the Rising Star Award, this was a Friday we won't be forgetting. 🌃✨

Not everyone with a microphone is a journalist.
If you're too scared to challenge a response you're pr, not the press.
At some point the "new media" generation will have to decide if they value credibility more than "likes."

The royals don't have to worry about anti- Monarchist sentiment. Ink pens are going to do King Charles in.

So Zorro, Fu Manchu, Charlie Chan, Goku, the Prince of Persia, the King of Siam, Othello, every Egyptian Pharaoh, the Lone Ranger, Tonto, Ghandi, Pocahontas, Moses, Noah & Jesus were white
But a negro hobbit or a Black Targaryen isn’t “faithful to the source material”
Got it

Kids successfully evading security on the top of a building in #Chicago. This looks like a scene out of Scooby Doo. #ChicagoScanner
Just saw a story that suggested this #FrederickDouglass biography by @AprilEdit is on a #bannedbooks list at a library in Idaho. So naturally, I bought a copy.
Saturday is National Cinema Day, apparently. $3 seats in 3000 theaters. We have all kinds of access now on monitors and mobile devices... but nothing beats a movie moment like this.

The statue of Mary McLeod Bethune makes me remember when my late uncle Junior always argued that MMB is the most important person in Black History.
While that is a matter of opinion, if we REALLY knew MMB, we'd see how compelling his argument was.
A thread.
Hey @kroger - As a single woman, I'm rarely able to take advantage of buy one/get one discounts at @MarianosMarket. If I "bo," will you partner with area shelters and pantries to help get the "go" to our neighbors in need? Let's put dinner on tables! #endhunger #FoodInsecurity
The number of people who don't know that Brown vs. Board of Education (good) is the case that DID overturn Plessy vs. Ferguson (bad) is disappointing. This is what happens when you ban books and accurate history lessons. #fixpublicschools
