`any` is bad. You definitely shouldn't use it. Ever. Ever.
Except, of course, it's never that simple:

After using TypeScript for 8+ years, I had a mind-blowing realization: type inference is implemented completely backwards from how I think about it! Read on for the "missing manual" on Flow Nodes and TS type inference internals. effectivetypescript.com/2024…

I'm thinking about a pivot.
Social media kind of sucks. I have to lower the quality of what I post to fit the algorithms. I feel stymied.
So, I'm going to make the best newsletter I can. Off-platform. Interactive. Mind-blowing.
Sounds good? Come along:

OH MY GOD IT'S HAPPENING
In TS 5.5, type predicates will be inferred automatically from functions that return a narrowing statement.
No more 'val is string' to force TypeScript's hand.
@danvdk, I can't believe you got it merged. Incredible work.

Just updated my TSConfig cheat sheet for TS 5.4!
No more module "ESNext".
module: "preserve" is my new best friend.

Big update for TypeScript users!
🚫 Stop using compilerOptions#paths
✅ Start using package.json#imports
package.json#imports uses Node.js conventions, solving a specific pain point for monorepo folks.
Video coming. Too excited, had to insta-tweet.
Stay tuned.

ALT A screenshot of my editor highlighting import bits to show off to make package.json#imports work. The first highlight shows `"imports": { #components/*: "./components/*" }`. The second highlight shows `"devDependencies": { typescript: ^5 }`. The third highlight shows `export const TesterComponent = () => { return <div>Tester</div> }`. The fourth highlight shows me starting to type `<Tester` and the auto-complete window open to show the auto-import coming from "#components/tester.jsx".
