Thank you, Nepean. My heart is so full. I do not take this responsibility lightly. I will work tirelessly for you and make sure your voices are heard at Queen’s Park. Regardless of who you voted for, my door will always be open.
Doug Ford broke OSAP and blew a billion dollars of your money leaving students to pay the price.
He scapegoated students, slashed their grants, and kicked thousands off OSAP 7 weeks into the school year.
Here’s how Ontario’s billion-dollar OSAP scandal unfolded.

The Ford government destroyed OSAP. They were warned about potential fraud for years and failed to act.
Now students across Ontario can’t pay rent, tuition and groceries, and they’re being told to wait until the new year. What are they supposed to do in the mean time?
Students should not have to pay the price for this government’s incompetence.
Cut off the bad actors. Restore OSAP for students who followed the rules. Immediately. #onpoli

So many questions about the Greenbelt scandal.
How did a developer whose proposal reached the housing minister’s office in June 2021 end up having that exact property removed from the Greenbelt in November 2022, and who was involved in making that decision? #onpoli

Doug Ford scapegoated students and cut their OSAP grants saying they were abusing it.
Now we know the potential abuse was happening in a handful of private colleges with ties to the Ford government, now referred to the OPP.
Stop making students pay for the government’s failures. Reverse the OSAP grant cuts to students in the public sector. Immediately the OSAP loans to students in legitimate career programs. #onpoli

So heartbreaking to hear the news from CFB Wainwright. My thoughts and love are with everyone affected. Families, friends, colleagues, first responders. My thanks for the actions of all the brave women and men who do some of the hardest work imaginable.
Layoff notices have gone out to workers in some career colleges. Students who had OSAP taken away are being told if they can’t pay their tuition they will have to drop out. They can’t pay their rent, tuition, groceries, bills. These are future PSWs, ECEs, social workers…
Meanwhile, Premier @fordnation and Minister @nolanmquinn are silent. Do your job. Reverse this decision, and restore the grants to public students while you’re at it. #FixOSAP #onpoli

Ontario promises you'll get life-saving care when you need it. Under @SylviaJonesMPP, that promise is broken.
She has gutted a program that helps people with rare diseases get care when it's not available in Ontario.
People have died from this. More will if she doesn't change course.

"Confused about OSAP grants? Get up to $50,000 in government grants. Secure your future. No repayment, just opportunity!"
These are the types of pitches dozens of student recruitment companies are making online.
The Trillium has learned some private career colleges are paying these online recruiters for student referrals. Corporate records also link one recruitment group to a private college network at the centre of the Ford government's OSAP investigation. STORY w/ @jessiecatherine:

At best, the OSAP scandal is incompetence and mismanagement. At worst, potential corruption.
Doug Ford’s Conservatives tried to scapegoat students by accusing them of wasting OSAP on luxury items, while nearly 20% of grant spending went to a handful of private career colleges referred to the OPP.
Ford owes students an apology. Immediately restore grants for public institutions and reinstate OSAP for legitimate career programs.

Last week, Ontario announced private career colleges would be temporarily barred from accessing student aid payments. thestar.com/politics/ford-go…
Political connections. Lobbyists. Donations. Hundreds of millions in OSAP funding.
The Ford government was warned in 2023. So why did it take over three years to act?
Who was lobbying them? Who was donating? What did they know, and when?
Now innocent students are paying the price.

"We can confirm that the Office of the Auditor General received a notification from the government last week. This was separate from the request for an audit received from MPP Tyler Watt."
"While the minister has the power to request a 'special assignment,' it’s unclear why the government chose to only notify the auditor as opposed to request a performance audit – similar to Liberal MPP Tyler Watt’s request." #onpoli #FixOSAPasap

Ontario’s Auditor General said the office only received a “notification” from the Ford government on the OSAP allegations, but that the province stopped short of requesting a formal value-for-money audit.
