Posting about this with a fully ChatGPT-generated write up is the most hilariously fitting end to this sage possible.
I finally caught my first Shiny Pokémon…
1 in 8192 odds.
After 63 hours riding a bike around in a fkn cave and 7,068 encounters, Shiny Onix popped up and my wife & I lost our minds
I’m not going to say this was a childhood dream, because it wasn’t. I didn’t even become aware of Shiny Pokemon until my early 20s, and when I did, I was fascinated by them
I liked the extreme rarity of these “alternate” colored Pokémon, and couldn’t believe some people had the patience to reset their game over and over and over until they found the “one”
Last month I finally got the bug (and had the time) to cross “catch a Shiny Pokémon” off my bucket list. I chose one of the original games, Pokémon Gold, because I wanted to experience what it might’ve felt like to randomly find one as a kid. No hacks, no cheats… just time, effort, and a ton of Max Repels
And wow, what a moment…
After literally spending two and a half collective days of my life hunting, in one split second we had achieved what I thought might be impossible.
Green. Shiny Onix. Sparkles and all… I legit couldn’t believe it
My Gengar put him to sleep, then I caught him with an Ultra Ball on the fourth attempt.
We nicknamed him Avery in honor of Avery the Poke Kid, rest in peace to the legend.
All things considered, my hunt was actually “under odds,” and I’m considered lucky. I know of some hunts that have taken over 30,000 🤮
Massive shoutout to the greatest shiny hunter of them all, @SauceMcGavin, for guiding me through this
I’m aware that this seems like the most repetitive, ridiculous thing in the world, but therein lies the magic… this is a special skill set that takes an absurd amount of patience, tenacity, and a borderline delusional positive attitude.
I hope people have gained some respect for Shiny Hunting because I don’t think I’ll do this again lol
PS the ultimate reason I did this was to get golden Shiny Steelix… I’m evolving my Shiny Onix live on my YouTube channel October 29, while breaking open two boxes of Legendary Collection, so definitely tune in
Idk who needs to hear this today but the internet is not real life.
You can react however you want about how people think or feel, but you cannot control if others do the same. Make real friends and don’t get caught up in worlds that only exist on social media.
There’s something special about him including Steelix’s evolution method in every single post like the Pokemon community will give him brownie points for it.
Go evolve a Galarian Yamask without ChatGPT’s help and then let’s talk.
I’ve beaten Floyd Mayweather
I’ve become United States Champ
I’ve sold a Pokémon card for $16.5M
But no feat will be harder than my next. Tomorrow, I will attempt to catch my first ever Shiny Pokémon: 1 in 8,192 Odds
The Pokémon equivalent of hitting a hole in one
And not just any Pokémon…
Steelix. One of my all time favorites. Shiny Steelix is a GOATED shiny, a pure 24k Gold TITAN.
I won’t stop hunting until I catch a shiny Onix, then evolve him via trade + metal coat into Steelix.
For every Pokémon encounter, we’ll add $1 to a prize pool. When I catch Shiny Onix, one lucky viewer will get the entire pot 💰
I could be hunting for days. And I’m live streaming all of it on my YouTube (LoganPaulVlogs) & Twitch (LoganPaulWasTaken) starting 12p EST
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Logan Paul did not beat Floyd Mayweather. Their 2021 exhibition boxing match had no official winner declared and was widely regarded as a dominant performance by Mayweather per punch stats and observers.

What have we done
It would be a real shame if the *Pokemon* World Championships happened to be co-streamed by, oh idk, *Pokemon* creators.
Get to know your official co-streamer lineup for #PokemonXP and #PokemonWorlds!
For those participating at home, sure to check out their channels throughout the event weekend and earn Twitch Drops along the way 🎉
The past few days have served as a nice reminder never to sink too much of your identity into the online space, particularly into a singular person.
Invest in real people and real friendships. It’s easier said than done, but trust me, those relationships are worth it all.
Trying to market a competitive game to a “casual” audience by limiting the roster to less than 200 Pokemon with 0 legendaries makes NO SENSE.
Why not have a ranked set of Pokemon for the competitive side and let unranked be chaos? Every modern game has a split between the two.

What is the most fun, cool, or simply impressive thing you've built or seen built in Pokemon Pokopia so far? Reply with your favorites and I'll be reacting to them for a video soon!
I wish I didn’t know how big of a fumble shiny Scyther is, how did we get stuck with this instead?
