We're hosting another hacknight this Thursday (Oct 22nd) at the @union_ai Bellevue office: This months topic is owning your AI by build agentic model factories! @niels_ai and @GalarnykMichael are in town and will be there as well! You'll see how Union ai & Flyte give your AI workflows a durable runtime with infrastructure as context, so agents adapt infra resources, recover from failures, and keep moving without re-running completed work. And because it all runs in your own cloud, you own the full stack end to end: your models, your data, your infrastructure, your IP. Then we switch into hack night mode: keep building on the example, bring your own models or datasets, experiment with evals and fine-tuning, extend open models to different parts of your agent, or start something new around the same ideas. Should be fun and i hope to you there!

This is the first week in months that I haven't been Fable-bottlenecked. This is because Opus 5.5 is really good.

Hi, I'm Felix. I'm an eng lead working on Claude. I love watching people take flight and do things they never thought possible. We often describe that as "being more ambitious" when using AI, which is tricky advice to follow. I wrote a tutorial: felixrieseberg.com/how-to-be…

We need a slang term for developers who write code without AI. What are we calling them?

While y'all were designing your software factories, I've been doing my own thing.

Does anyone have a meeting-scribe AI they think is particularly good?

I feel like Opus 5.5 started a little rocky, but it's been a wildly productive week.

Sadly, I think there's a whole category of people in the economy for whom inconveniences like this are the biggest friction in their lives.
how big is the problem of booking a table at a restaurant seems like one of the big showcase features yet i have never really met someone who struggled with this

I need someone to split an argument between Claude and me. What's going on in my training? Epoch 3 resets the learning rate higher than anneals it down.

Why doesn’t Claude have an image or video generation model yet?

I know a lot of audiophiles care about sound quality, but does anyone have thoughts on the best mic for TTS intelligibility?
24
I've noticed that Opus 5.5 seems to really try to blend into an existing codebase and let existing technical and stylistic decisions stand. This can be good or bad, depending on how good those technical decisions were in the first place.

Not sure about speed and cost, but a Jev competitor that can take input images opens up a lot of opportunities. I hope someone is working on this for audio.

I read the new Opus 5.5 docs, so you don't have to. Blog if you want more details tylermorgan.me/blog/driving-…

What's the last model that sustained hype for more than a week?
Why GPT-6 Astra hype disappeared so quickly?
