While you were sleeping in the US, the San Francisco 49ers crossed the majority of the Pacific Ocean.
They’re passing just north west of Fiji transitioning into Polynesia, with about 5 hours to go.
🛫The aircraft taking the #49ers to Melbourne Australia has arrived in SFO as QF6001, a repositioning flight from LAX.
🇦🇺 The 17 year old double decker A380-842 registered VH-OQD will take the team on a 15hr and 54 minute journey across the Pacific later tonight.

Earned my Certified Flight Instructor certificate today. The guy I was 17 months ago when I started this journey would be proud, so I should be too.
Truly takes a village in aviation so shout out to everyone who helped me reach this milestone.
Plenty more to go.
Helicopter vortices are one of the most dangerous forms of invisible wake turbulence light aircraft can encounter.
Fixed wing pilots should treat helicopters the same way they do large aircraft!
Here's the footage showing the moment Pennsylvania State Police Bell 407GX (N873ST) collided with Cessna 150H (N23330) yesterday at Carlisle Airport.
One thing that immediately stands out is the hovering helicopter; it can generate significant rotor downwash, creating severe turbulence.
I wonder if the Cessna got too close to the Bell 407's downwash, potentially losing control or being pushed off its flight path. Could the helicopter's rotor wash have contributed to the sudden deviation that sent the Cessna into its path?
The investigation will have to determine exactly what happened; these are just my thoughts for now.
T-Minus 20 days until CFI initial checkride.
Feel like I could use ‘bout 80 to get prepped.
Any tips?
In light of recent tragic events, with all sincere sympathy and lack of judgement — I’m begging the general public to understand how dynamic weather can be.
You simply can not watch or read a local news forecast and think it’ll stick, or rely on weather alerts coming to your phone.
Please download a free radar app and learn to understand it on a basic level.
You do not need a meteorologist degree to do so and seeing the big red blob develop may save your life some day.

Aerolíneas Argentinas, the flag carrier airline of Argentina, files for bankruptcy. The fleet is totally grounded.
How about all are bad? lol
Aviation is all about threat and error management. Risk is inherent - but it’s about how we mitigate that risk by identifying threats from the time we start planning a flight to the time we walk back into an FBO, terminal, school or bathroom.
So let me get this straight.
Captain nearly plunges a 777 into the ocean doing 8000 feet a minute and pulls up 700 feet before crashing over stressed the airplane and flew 5 hours back to the mainland.
Captain goes in low and nails a powerline that tips over a truck.
Both had 300 people on board
Both caused tons of damage
Both were pilot error
Twitter to them just says retrain them.
The 777 was a new plane to the captain
The 767 was landing on a short runway.
These 777 Qatar pilots did no damage whatsoever and executed the maneuver they were performing perfectly.
It was awesome to watch, reckless sure, awesome yes.
Twitter says, yank their certs and they should never fly again.
Same with the flexjet pilots who forced Southwest to make an easy go around. People screamed for their certs to be pulled and Southwest was a hero.
But nobody is screaming for the United guys who actually did damage and had 300+ people on board.
Passed my commercial single engine add on ride today. Another step closer to the Miracle on the Mojave master Nathan Fielder.
CFI/II next.
Mammoth said “don’t look at us!” 😂
Mammoth Freighters, which performed the passenger-to-freighter conversion of N705DN released a statement on yesterday’s low pass. They say the current owner was in control of the aircraft at the time. FAA records show Jetran LLC as the registered owner. flightradar24.com/blog/fligh…

UPDATE: We’re on the plane to Buffalo!!! American Airlines was incredibly helpful and made it possible for us to get on this flight. A special thank you to @JJWatt for organizing it while we were in the air to Dallas. Big thanks as well to everyone else who offered their help.🙏
