Also, Happy Bday to my fellow native Detroiter, Alice Coltrane!
Remembering the great Alice Coltrane who was born on this day in 1937. An accomplished pianist and one of the few harpists in the history of jazz, Coltrane was also one of the foremost exponents of spiritual jazz. Her eclectic music proved widely influential both within and outside the world of jazz. She was married to jazz saxophonist and composer John Coltrane, with whom she performed in 1966–1967. Alice Coltrane recorded many albums as a bandleader, beginning in the late 1960s and early 1970s for Impulse! and other major record labels. Here, she is playing the harp in 1970. This clip is from the Black Journal documentary. The segment focuses on the life of Alice Coltrane and her children in the wake of the death of her husband John Coltrane.

I'm thrilled to work with @CAMONGHNE Camonghne Felix, who has been fundamental to the success of this project that will help document the growth and maturation of one of the most unique fellowships in American literature, @cavecanempoets Cave Canem Foundation!
Been working on this anthology with @TyehimbaJess for the last year and I am SO THRILLED we finally get to announce it and open the process up for submissions. This is not just a love letter to Black letters, but a love letter to the communities that inspire Black letters. ✨

One of the most interesting geopolitical analysts that I watch consistently is @BenjaminNorton, who has just moved to China to better understand international economies and to get a fuller understanding of a nation that pulled 800 million people out of poverty in 2 generations.
I recently moved to China. 🇨🇳 I made a video discussing what life is like, what we can learn from its economic model, and why I think many of its policies are misunderstood, as this may be the most sovereign country on Earth. Link to full video below
