The future of DIGITAL Spiders is once again up in the air. DIGITAL is looking for a VALORANT Game Changers team/players to represent us in upcoming tournaments. DMs are open.
If DIGITAL was seeking another Game Changers roster to represent us.... Who would be interested? 👀

I always wondered, how do all these esports organizations stay afloat? Is it investors, sponsorships, merchandise sales, winnings, content? What really is the way to survive in esports as an organization?

I do lowkey feel a little discouraged as an org owner. Why do I build teams? To help my players achieve their dreams of playing on the pro stage. But I cant help but feel a little crushed when RIOT continues to ignore community sentiments from the players themselves

Riot just killed all trust with orgs old & new. They call it "opening the ecosystem." I see it as erasing years of org investment within a day. Why would anyone build in Valorant now? Valorant didn't die today. But Riot just bought the casket and might as well start digging.

The hilarious part is that every T3/T2 org owner has been saying this for a while, the only difference is that Ludwig is a streamer who just got his skin taken away
Ludwig, co-owner of Shopify Rebellion via his stream: "I think that Shopify Rebellion should abandon VALORANT completely, and I think Riot Games has fucked us long enough, and I don't know if I wanna pursue it anymore, because I see no reward for doing so."

This might be counter intuitive but I dont care if my players get poached. I WANT them to get their bag. If my players getting poached gets them even one step closer to achieving their dreams, I will help write the contact.

I wonder if the esports scene would be on the whole better if all salaries were public
M80 Owner Marco says it costs 500K a Year to pay for their VALORANT team He also said that in the 2027 VCT Circuit, if they don’t make all 3 Americas cups and at least one Masters, they won’t BREAK EVEN Yikes..

"wow i built my organization around developer money and now cant afford to pay 500K in salaries" who could have guessed esports was so unsustainable?

Seeings lots of discussion around what these VALORANT partnerships mean. It has always been DIGITAL's goal to build talent. And now, it looks like we may actually find a home in the ecosystem as part of the "talent pipeline" to support players finding T1 and T2 contracts
Everything @LudwigAhgren is saying here is 100% fair and accurate. Let's do the math: 1. To support a Valorant challengers team like the 2026 M80 roster which won NA would be approximately $500k annually give or take. That's 5 players, 1 HC and 1 AC/Analyst on monthly salaries + travel etc. For us to take this roster into the new ecosystem and compete we would have to make EVERY Cup + at least ONE Masters event to just break EVEN on the investment into the game. If we miss even 1 cup we are down six figures. If we miss a Masters its an even bigger hole. Most teams cannot afford to take this risk for so little return. It's financial suicide. We could just look to drastically reduce salaries but then you are just in a race to the bottom. Playing T1 Valorant is a full time job and you have to be able to pay people full time wages. I would rather go do something else than pay players a fraction of what their time is worth. It's sad because there are many t1 Valorant players in North America who will miss out on opportunities to have a career. Sucks to even write that to be honest. 2. Competitive Integrity. This will be an 8 team league in Americas and there should be no doubt about that. Any non-partnered team that has an inch of success or develops an amazing talent will lose those players at the first break in the season to partnered teams and have to start building chemistry over. Agents will insist on their players being moved to partner teams and if you try to retain them you will be holding them back. This is fair as the best salaries and financial opportunities will only come from partner teams. This, even more so that the financial picture, is the real reason M80 will not compete in Valorant in 2027. It's just a completely unlevel playing field and that's not something we are interested in. I got into esports because of Valorant. We launched M80 with a Valorant roster announcement. It breaks my heart to leave. We love the game and the community and would love to return in an instant when things make more sense. I look forward to that day.

Built this org on my own, 5+ years without partnership and no other financial support A little cash must be nice. Until then, I grind for a better future for all my players
