They'll be talking about clanker taxes in the 2028 election, btw.
Democrats in particular, but you'll even see some Republicans float the idea. By that point, the US white collar labor market will be so devastated that they won't have a choice.
Richie Rich, what I got is better than what you got.
(The ability to open locked doors.)
Haters, what I got is better than what u got. Learn from me.

If cash is king in a recession, a paid-off, well-maintained car is probably queen.
As crazy as it sounds, you might beat out a candidate for a job in the years ahead simply because you have a way to reliably get to work and they don't.
BREAKING: America’s $1.7 trillion auto loan market is headed for a crash, per Reuters.
Auto loans are now one of the biggest sources of household debt, bigger than credit cards.
And the strain is showing: 1 in 5 Americans is behind on at least one loan, the highest since 2010, and the average car on the road is now nearly 13 years old, a record.
Not gonna lie, this is one of the wildest things I've seen an online sportsbook offer in some time. Basically a HYSA that pays you in casino bonus.
I wonder how long you could park a mountain of cash and refuse to spend your own money until they'd promo ban you (or ban you entirely).
40+ and jobless in IT/SWE is a tough sitch if you aren't absolutely cracked.
Mid-level roles you're made for have been destroyed over decades of cost cutting.
Too old for entry-level roles where they want young bucks to overwork.
Too unskilled for high-end specialized roles.
Sounds great, how much do I gotta put down to get my name on the “future people to rob” list?

My base case at this point is a less catastrophic version of both realities mixed together.
- The AI bubble will pop, and a lot of rich folks who thought they were the smartest people in the room investing in picks and shovels will lose their ass in the fallout. The market will correct significantly and tech companies in particular will get torched. The AI infrastructure buildout will slow down massively as people realize we overshot the target on demand by several orders of magnitude. People will freak out but the world will not end. Markets will figure out what still has value in a world where AI is merely good tech and not the magic solution to everything, and go from there.
- AI will drive massive efficiency gains in many roles, but turn out to not be some god-tier tech that replaces humans tip-to-tail. There will be significant pressure on the labor force in some fields and virtually no impact in others. Lots of political talk about "clanker taxes" "retraining programs" "worker assistance" etc. but very little action, as it goes with politicians. Like with every great technological change, we will do a very poor job of managing the transition and a lot of individuals will suffer, but collectively we will all muddle through.
Whenever I run out of YouTube slop, I like to re-listen to @exitscampod and it feels especially prescient in these “Nothing is ever going to happen to Coinbase” times we live in.
