I understand Jaissle wanting to play attacking football. I understand not wanting to return to Eddie Howe’s style. I understand this squad isn’t at last season’s level.
What I don’t understand is signing so many talented youngsters, according to our own manager, only to start 7 players against Villa who featured under Howe last season.
It’s time to see change. ⚫⚪ #NUFC

Unfortunately, i’m seriously worried about where Newcastle United are heading under Matthias Jaissle…
You can talk about a young squad, players adapting and needing time, but none of that excuses the same basic tactical mistakes happening week after week.
We’re far too easy to play against. There’s endless space between the lines, our pressing looks completely disjointed and defensively we seem to lose our shape far too easily.
It’s not even just about the results anymore. It’s the fact that we’re seeing so little improvement in the performances.
I want Jaissle to succeed, but he HAS to wake up and change something quickly. Patience is one thing, but blindly accepting performances like these is another.
How much longer can this continue before serious questions need to be asked? ⬇️

Newcastle United Are NOT Playing to Their Strengths! Jaissle vs Aston Villa

How is this guy on the pitch an MFP being subbed 🤔 #NUFC

No Sean Steur, a dysfunctional 3-1-6 #NUFC system which has NO patterns of play and forces individual errors from GOOD footballers. Jaissle has to win against Palace or I'd be seriously considering giving him the boot. Not good enough with what he has at his disposal for me.
Our last fucking throw of the dice to snatch a draw is putting Dan Burn up front. Let that sink in.
And all I keep hearing is that Jaissle needs time. Time for the players to learn the system.
What exactly are they learning? Because this looks like route-one football. Long balls, bypassing midfield, throwing bodies forward and hoping something drops.
Where’s the control? Where’s the tactical identity? Where’s the evidence this is going somewhere?
I’m all for giving a manager time, but time alone doesn’t magically turn a flawed approach into a good one. What are we actually trying to achieve here? 🤦♂️
#NUFC ⚫⚪
This sums up Newcastle right now. A FOUR-ON-THREE, with the opportunity to play in Harvey Barnes or square the ball, and Johann Gudmundsson decides to take it on himself — and doesn’t even hit the fucking target.
The decision-making is atrocious. The composure is non-existent. The quality in the final third is an absolute disgrace.
You cannot keep wasting opportunities like that and expect to win football matches. 🤦♂️ #NUFC ⚫⚪
So, when Plan A wasn’t working, the solution was to put Wissa back into the No. 10 position and Osula up front.
I hate to say it, but Plan A and Plan B look fucking identical. 🤦♂️
Where’s the tactical adjustment? Where’s the change in approach to actually give Aston Villa something different to think about?
Realistically, I struggle to see how Newcastle get back into this game playing this way. We’re far too exposed, we’re giving the ball away constantly, and we’re leaving ourselves vulnerable every time possession breaks down.
You can’t chase a game by throwing bodies forward when the structure behind them is already falling apart. #NUFC ⚫⚪
I wanted Dan Burn back in this defence for the structure, resilience, leadership and composure he could bring to the back line.
But I can completely understand now why Matthias Jaissle isn’t playing him.
If we’re going to play transitional football and expect Burn to spend 60 minutes of a 90-minute game sprinting back towards his own goal, we’re setting him up to fail.
That style of football will expose his weaknesses rather than play to his strengths, and ultimately make him look worse than he is.
The bigger question is why we’re playing a system that leaves our defenders so exposed in the first place. #NUFC ⚫⚪
I hate to say it, but I’ve seen this before. 🤦♂️
Bazoumana Touré and Osula coming on for Willock and MFP. It feels like we’re just throwing more bodies forward and hoping someone bails us out with a goal.
Where’s the tactical plan? Where’s the control? Where’s the structure to actually create chances?
You can’t just keep chucking attackers on and hope for the best. That’s not a strategy. #NUFC ⚫⚪
Lewis Hall looks like the only player in this Newcastle side with the composure to take a ball down, get it under control, keep possession and pick a simple pass.
We need MORE of this and LESS of the constant transition football.
Control the ball, dictate the tempo and make the opposition chase us for a change. Not every attack needs to be a fucking sprint. There has to be a balance. ⚫⚪ #NUFC
Next week, we’ll probably see Sven Botman playing as a fucking striker, seeing as he’s the only one who seems capable of hitting the target. 😂
Then again, he might be better up front because he certainly can’t fucking defend at the moment.
What the hell is happening to this Newcastle team? 🤦♂️⚫⚪ #NUFC
Just to highlight how fucking poor this Premier League refereeing is…
Jarred Gillett gives Newcastle offside, yet Aston Villa take the resulting free kick INSIDE the Newcastle half, exactly where the linesman is indicating the offside occurred.
And this is in the build-up to Villa’s goal.
Can someone explain how an offside offence in Villa’s half results in a free kick for Villa in Newcastle’s half? Make that make fucking sense. 🤦♂️
#NUFC #AVFC #PremierLeague
Where is the control in this game? Where is putting your foot on the ball, keeping possession and making the opposition work? Where is Newcastle playing out from the back?
It’s long ball after long ball, giving possession away and leaving us constantly under pressure, constantly chasing and constantly having to press.
You cannot play football like this for 90 minutes and expect it to be sustainable. There needs to be some composure, some control and some actual tactical structure to this team.
Aggression and intensity are great, but without control, you’re just running yourself into the ground. #NUFC ⚫⚪
This quick transitional football looks less tactical than Sam Allardyce. 🤦♂️
Playing balls in behind with Joe Willock as the ONLY runner against FOUR defenders. What the fuck is the plan here?
There’s a difference between playing with pace and having absolutely no structure or movement. Right now, Newcastle look like they’re relying on hope rather than tactics. #NUFC ⚫⚪
1-0 Aston Villa. ⚫⚪
Once again, Newcastle’s defensive frailties are being exposed. We look far too vulnerable when teams come at us, and the ease with which opponents get at our defence is becoming a real concern.
You can be aggressive and exciting going forward, but if you can’t defend transitions, you’re always going to be in trouble. #NUFC
I genuinely think I might not know the rules of football anymore. 🤦♂️
Aston Villa taking a free kick for offside from inside the Newcastle half. How does that work?
Consistency isn’t even a question with this officiating anymore, is it? What the fuck are we watching? 🤬⚫⚪ #NUFC
This game feels exciting and end-to-end, and I love the aggression and speed Newcastle are showing going forward. ⚫⚪
But it’s unsettling how easily we’re being countered. We seem to commit bodies forward without enough options or support in attack, leaving us vulnerable when possession breaks down.
Entertaining? Absolutely. Sustainable? I’m not so sure. #NUFC
