The KAT trade is complete. For @spotrac, I broke it down from all sides:
-Getting creative to get an "impossible" deal done
-Knicks in the short- and long-term
-Wolves resetting on the fly
-Hornets paid to help
-Duane Washington's strange saga

World Champion Germany faces France now in a exhibition game as Wemby wins the tip-off.
France starts with two elite rim protectors Gobert and Wemby and there is no defensive three seconds violation in FIBA play.
Good luck scoring any points at the rim...

New for @TheAthleticNBA : Does rebounding still matter? With the Oklahoma City Thunder and the New York Knicks, we get two very different answers to that question.

Research idea for halftime break:
Is the Sixers' transition defense better, when Cam Payne shoots from the left side of the court compared to the right side because of his shooting form?
Jared should be part of your essential basketball analysis things to read. I'm reading his stuff for about a decade now and he covers all bases (30 teams, trades, Xs and Os, analytics, trends, etc.) on very high level. There is a 30 day free-trial, if you aren't already convinced

Japan has qualified for Olympic basketball in 2024, winning the Asia berth!
South Sudan (Africa) did so earlier today. Australia (Oceania) and France (host) are in, too.
2 Europe and 2 Americas teams still TBD, plus 4 Olympic Qualifying Tournament winners next year.

The NBA salary cap used to be arcane knowledge meant only for assistant GMs and very few others. Now, it's a booming business — both within the league and outside of it.
I wrote about Larry Coon, the godfather of this entire realm: theathletic.com/4816071/2023…

It works, but you have to trust the author.
(I haven't reviewed the code,)
It will also break eventually, bc X's APIs will continue to change, so have to look for updates.

📽 Before Steph Curry, Reggie Miller was warping defenses with his movement and shooting.
But there was more to Reggie’s innovative game that made him one of the toughest covers in NBA history. youtu.be/jxO9KsZPelE
Would also be a shot clock violation:

Holy shit.
Maybe invite her to the NBA's 3pt contest to make it a bit more competitive..
Sabrina Ionescu (@sabrina_i20) just set the all-time record for NBA or WNBA with a score of 37 PTS in the FINAL ROUND of the #Starry3PT Contest to be crowned the NEW 3-PT CHAMPION 🏆 | @starrylemonlime
Great job compiling this list, Howard. Now we just need to make sure to share some invite links.
In fact I would need one myself, if someone has one to spare.

NBA stat of the day #293:
A wild one today:
We have data for charge and non-charge offensive fouls drawn since 2011
The record for non-charge offensive fouls drawn was JJ Barea with 53 (2011)
Lu Dort broke the record in '23... with 87(!!). That's more than 4 teams 🤯
CHA switching between Scoot and Miller all the time or at least leaking that to the public ensures to get the same offers POR gets from teams wanting to trade up for either player.
