“My husband knows that I don't love him all the time. There are days that I'd see fantabulous guys and I'd be like I picked this one(My husband) over you?🙆 My husband knows who i am and we don't carry marriage on the head like it's something sacred. Our marriage is not that serious.”🙆💔 — Omotola Jalade

Finally. One accountable Igbo woman.
I went on TikTok trying to find the comment where I said that “one day, Igbo women would regret the way they have always dragged Igbo men”. Because there was a time on that app every blessed day, you must see an Igbo woman talking down on an Igbo man. Is it patriarchy, it is Igbo man. Disrespect? Igbo men. Everything is suddenly the fault of Igbo men. But forget that the support, and investment of Igbo men on their women is the reason Igbo women are the most educated in Nigeria, and even build careers. From the day I was born, I have known something about Igbo men. Igbo men have always valued their wives and treated them with a lot of care. Then, all of a sudden, I came on social media and started seeing Igbo women constantly dragging Igbo men, and I kept asking myself, “From where to where?” Now the whole thing is backfiring, and it is beginning to look like Igbo men are becoming less interested in Igbo women. Sometimes, we need to be careful about the kind of narrative we constantly push.

I will never forget a woman we lost in the labor ward because she wouldn't accept blood. She left her newborn without a mom. Think of this new policy as "do not eat a burger." Whole blood is the assembled burger: bread, meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, all stacked together and handed to you as one thing. That is still prohibited. Now let's take the burger/blood apart. The meat on its own is the red cells. The bread is the plasma. The cheese is the platelets. The lettuce and tomato are the white cells. Under the new policy, you can order any of these separately, and you can even order all four on the same tray. You just cannot order them assembled. From a medical standpoint, the components together are the whole unit. A patient given red cells, plasma, and platelets in the standard trauma ratio is receiving, in effect, reconstituted whole blood. So a doctor looking at the tray sees a deconstructed burger. The organization looks at the same tray and says, "No burger was served." As confusing as that may sound, I hope it means we stop losing lives to the "no blood" policy.

JWs now take blood components as per the recent governing body update #6. What do you have to say now? 🎤
Jehovah’s Witnesses take modern medicine seriously. They go to hospitals, get surgeries, take medications, do chemo, get vaccines… basically the full range of standard medical care. Take Covid for example: they approached it with a mix of caution, organisation and strict internal consistency. They were one of the few large religious groups that shifted their entire global routine very quickly and stayed with it. They suspended all in-person meetings, conventions and door-to-door preaching early in the pandemic, long before many governments mandated it. Their worship moved fully online. They took public-health guidance seriously. They encouraged masks, distancing and hygiene measures, and they followed local regulations and never resisted them. Their official publications consistently framed these actions as practical expressions of caring for others. Additionally, they did not oppose Covid vaccination, and many jws viewed vaccination as a responsible medical decision consistent with their general acceptance of modern medicine. They also quickly adapted their ministry. Door-to-door work stopped worldwide and did not return for more than two years. Instead, they wrote letters, made phone calls and used digital tools for outreach. This was historically unusual for them because personal, physical ministry is central to their identity. They treated this as both a safety measure and an opportunity to preach or distribute content without travel or crowding to avoid infecting others. Anyone who is familiar with their disaster response system during natural disasters can testify that they use a similar approach and that they take science and community very seriously. The single line they don’t cross is blood transfusion. This is because of how they interpret the biblical instruction to “abstain from blood” in Acts 15:28–29. For them it isn’t exclusively a food rule but a moral boundary, so they avoid transfusions of whole blood and its major components: red cells, white cells, platelets and plasma. When it comes to smaller blood derivatives (like albumin or certain immunoglobulins and similar products) each jw decides for themselves. The same applies to procedures where their own blood stays connected to their body in a closed loop. I grew up holding that stance too but my understanding of the verse changed as an adult; I now interpret it as a dietary rule that was valid at a time when eating and cleansing oneself with animal blood was common in ancient pagan traditions. Of course, the rule was made by people for whom blood rituals were the limit of their imagination based on their current reality. Today, modern medicine has advanced and allowed us the gift of saving others’ lives by giving them our blood and I do not believe that a loving god would rather watch his children die for his own ego rather than accept the kindness of extending or saving their lives through blood transfusion. But even though they don’t accept blood transfusion, they (mostly) approach it with care (or at least this has always been my understanding however a little bit complex). They often use what is called “bloodless medicine” which are techniques designed to manage or replace lost blood without using donor blood. Some medical centres have dedicated protocols because they’ve been treating jw patients for decades. Unfortunately, the reality in Nigeria when it comes to “bloodless medicine” protocols for jws and how widespread they are is a patchwork. There are doctors and hospitals in Nigeria who have treated jw patients with bloodless surgery approaches, but it is not yet uniformly or widely adopted. This makes it incredibly and disproportionately risky to be a jw in need of critical blood transfusion in Nigeria. Being a Nigerian in need of critical healthcare is already risky enough given our broken medical system, so this adds an extra layer of risk. So, overall: they welcome medical care, but blood transfusion is a spiritual no-go area. That one belief has shaped entire fields of bloodless techniques and also means they’re usually very clear about advance directives so doctors know how to treat them responsibly. Generally, especially when lives are at risk, I advocate for understanding, respect and empathy in caring for people with unconventional religious beliefs. I too once lost a close childhood friend to this belief, and I know a number of people who have gone the same way too. My beef is with the organisation’s governing body for holding onto this archaic position and refusing to adapt which has cost thousands of lives. Sadly, this is the tension between ancient texts and modern medicine which isn’t unique to jws. Every tradition that treats an ancient text as morally binding faces the same challenge: how to apply ideas shaped in a pre-scientific world to technologies the authors could not have imagined. I’ll continue to hope their stance on blood transfusion is eventually reversed, just as they once reversed their position on organ transplants. It is unnecessary. It is inhumane.

The Anambra Man Who Coordinated The Rescue Of Oyo Pupils And Teachers By Ken Chukwudi Ralph Major General Chinedu Ralph Nnebeife is the General Officer Commanding, GOC, 2 Division of the Nigerian Army Ibadan, Oyo State. The Division oversees about 9 Brigades under its jurisdictions and the fine, gentleman and thorough bred officer was the one that coordinated the successful rescue of the 44 Oyo school pupils and their teachers. Major General CR Nnebeife is from Awka, Anambra State, precisely Umuogbu village. The Major General has always proven himself in assigned roles and responsibilities in his military career with the Nigerian Army, which has seen his steady rise in rank. Currently a two-star General taking the responsibility of a Division with 9 Brigades under his command and the successful rescue of the Oyo School pupils and teachers once again proves his mettle being the Coordinator of the rescue operation. The Major General during the course of his career also rescued kidnapped victims in Kwara State, in an operation he led as an Officer of the Nigerian Army. We pray for God's continued guidance, protection and wisdom, as he keeps discharging his constitutional responsibilities as a General in the Nigerian military, including getting higher promotion and responsibilities. Their usual defence is that they suffered wickedness and misogyny from Igbo men for 700 years which is why they turned out this way. Ask them the misogyny they'll say their fathers didn't give them inheritance, their uncles gave their mothers dead body water to drink, and their fathers ate all the gizzards - all these nonsenses stemming from Nollywood imagination. The reality is that Igbo woman are top 3 the most educated group in Africa. Their men didn't school and sold property to train them in school. Their fathers, brothers, husbands, even boyfriends, all prioritise them and invest heavily on them while neglecting their own selves for reasons I struggle to understand. They've always been the most pampered and most provided-for, to the extent that pamper turned into goddess-like status for them as a group where their men started to worship them figuratively and literally. And because this privilege has blinded them they now make meaningless demands of everybody and now believe they're superior to those who worship them. Compare them with 99% of women from the remaining tribes in Nigeria who faced real documented discrimination and malice based on their gender and who still suffer high levels of sexism and marginalisation in the country, and because of that barely have any known opinions over their men, you will understand where the problem is coming from. Igbo women are comparable to black American women and Western European women - the 3 most privileged and spoilt group of people in the universe. You'll not find half their level of solipsism amongst another other group of women. The facts are there. However unlike the two other groups of women, the average Igbo woman actually has nothing valuable to show for as the reason for her ego problems and gross stupidity, except that Igbo men have put them on a pedestal that they themselves can't understand what they did or are doing to earn eternal praise and worship asides from just existing.

The important part of this conversation is that when we think sexual crimes, we instantly think "men". But the facade of innocence that women present allow them to run under the radar. More women have normalized getting pleasured by their pets, they purchase more sex toys (which isn't a crime but does factor unbridled sexual desires), abuse young boys than it is on record. Most of these boys can't, don't, won't come out because they've been misled to believe that it is a badge of honor. A belief system reinforced by dysfunctional men who were also abused by older women. So when in the rarity we get a highly placed societal woman like Simi admit to sexual crimes against children, you bite it down as hard as you can because this is a conversation that never gets featured. Because of this facade of innocence, more children get left with women like Simi who think it is okay for them to be objects of pleasure. People like myself are too insane to be bullied out of these conversations. #Justicefor4 #Simiwhy

The only reason many people, especially the "alpha male" gang are triggered by what Chidi wrote here is because he did not sugarcoat his words. He did not dress it up to sound nice and use useless euphemisms. He stated what every man knows to be true in their hearts bluntly.
• I approached you. • I toasted you. • Found you worthy to be my wife. • Went to your parents to let them know my intentions for their daughter. • Spent millions on your bride price and the items given to me to purchase as your marriage lists. • You become my responsibility henceforth. • Now, I have to provide and protect you for the rest of my life. • Hence, you're beneath me, my inferior and my subordinate. • You must respect, obey and submit to me. • You adhere to my authority and leadership. • I lead, You follow! • I talk, you shut up! • We are not partners! • We're not equals! • I'm not your mate! • I'M YOUR KING!
