Judaism is a 3,500 year old religion
Zionism is a 150 year old settler-colonial ideology
Conflating the two is absurd and antisemitic
The people who do it the most are Zionists and antisemites because its in their interest.

Some things the British media and political class have reacted hysterically to during Israel's genocide:
- The Maccabi Tel Aviv fan ban
- Bob Vylan
- Gary Lineker
- The Green Party motion
Something they have not reacted hysterically to:
- The genocide

So, the Green Party voted to brand Zionism as a form of racism - and all hell broke loose in the mainstream media that for years has been tolerating the Palestinian genocide.
Now, on the specific issue, of whether Zionism is a species of racism, here is what I can offer: A recommendation for a forthcoming book that I was privileged enough to get a chance to read before it was published.
The author is Benjamin Moser, the acclaimed Pulitzer Prize-winning author of 'Sontag: Her Life and Work'.
The book's title? 'Anti-Zionism: A Jewish History'.
Below you can find the blurb I wrote when I read it. I think it says everything I want to say on the question "Is Zionism a species of racism?"
Benjamin Moser grew up inside the Zionist story. This remarkable book is a record of his slow, painful unlearning of it – its deconstruction. Resembling some character in an Ibsen play, Moser gradually, unwittingly, discovers an unpunished crime at the heart of a storyline he had considered ‘pure’. The result is not a polemic but a resurrection of a fine tradition of Jews who resisted Zionism, whose stories were suppressed, their names erased, their portents dismissed as self-hatred. And yet, as Moser shows with devastating patience, they were right. They were right about the Nakba before it happened. They were right about the settlements before they spread. They were right about the genocide before we watched it unfold. More than any other recent book, Anti-Zionism restores our faith in what Iris Murdoch defined as the Sovereignty of Good.

SHAMEFUL
It is clear that the British Establishment is far angrier that the Greens have (in my view correctly) labelled Zionism as racism, than they have ever been about the ongoing apartheid, ethnic cleansing and GENOCIDE perpetrated by Israel in the name of Zionism
I shall stay off-line for a period now for the sake of my sanity

Outright lie by @TheNewsAgents - incredibly disappointing.
“The Greens are more extreme than mainstream Palestinian opinion - they’re saying violence is now legitimate.”
The Green Party's ‘Zionism is Racism’ motion calls for “the eradication of the Israeli state”, says @Freedland.
“And they’re happy to see that achieved by violence”.

Imagine being an adult in 2026 and still being against the legalisation of marijuana. Honestly grow up, put your bottle of gin down Karen and leave the people who smoke a plant alone.

Cannabis is the first resort of lazy tabloid journalism and weak but authoritarian politicians.

Meanwhile alcohol is the number one rape drug. Booze industry politics, will it ever end?
It is beyond time that cannabis was properly legalised and regulated. This out of touch and pathetic.

A caller on LBC mentions genocide and Shelagh Fogarty immediately goes off on a rant about how she’s “sick and tired of going down this route”, before regurgitating Israeli propaganda about targeting Hamas and tunnels.
Despicable.

it's difficult to do with our news sources but well done for thinking critically and recognising what they're doing here.

Did you let him get away with this incendiary, abusive lie?
Because if you did, that is the end of your show on my playlist. What has happened to @thenewsagents? You used to be fresh and brave.

I would have thought tackling cannabis smokers is the least of our national concerns.

Complete waste of police time. What we should be doing is decriminalising Cannabis and let the police deal with more serious matters like Class A drugs.

The Tories approach to drugs has been dismal. The U.K. has some of the highest drug deaths in Europe. The Tory party is irrelevant, nasty and out of touch on so many levels. Punitive drug policies add to any harms. It’s way past time cannabis was legalised in the U.K.

The ‘Zionism is racism’ motion will likely damage Zack Polanski’s chance of winning the Holborn & St Pancras by-election. Given the tone of news coverage this morning voters undecided about the Greens may be put off. The motion itself was one of around 200 tabled. It’s likely that witnessing the Gaza genocide and the inaction of world leaders got the motion over the line; of course it was Hitler’s genocide of the Jews that accelerated the establishment of Israel. My personal view is that while the desire for self determination by any group of people is not inherently racist. However, if, in practice, that self determination results in displacement, ethnic cleaning, bureaucratic apartheid, and mass killings then that is racism.
