There are times in a founder's journey when either they are still early in their venture and nobody knows them or when they are going through a rough patch, and people feel they no longer need to know them. Responsiveness of others when a founder reaches out to them can vacillate quite significantly with whether he/she is perceived to be successful or not at this moment. While that's a reality of life, I have always fondly remembered and appreciated those who were responsive when one was unknown and especially when one was going through a rough patch. Those people are the gems and one should stay close to them. They believe in you, not your circumstances.

What are you putting off out of fear? Usually, what we most fear doing is what we most need to do. That phone call, that conversation, whatever the action might be—it is fear of unknown outcomes that prevents us from doing what we need to do. Define the worst case, accept it, and do it.

If you consistently feel the counterproductive need for volume and doing lots of stuff, put these on a Post-it note: Being busy is a form of laziness—lazy thinking and indiscriminate action. Being busy is most often used as a guise for avoiding the few critically important but uncomfortable actions. And when—despite your best efforts—you feel like you’re losing at the game of life, remember: Even the best of the best feel this way sometimes. When I’m in the pit of despair, I recall what iconic writer Kurt Vonnegut said about his process: “When I write, I feel like an armless, legless man with a crayon in his mouth.”

Deeply disappointed & hurt to see the use of Ambareesh's Picture for a #timesofindia Advt. Extremely insensitive to do this & not what I expected from TOI. Honour people's legacy and show dignity and empathy. Please atleast leave the family & friends to grieve on the big loss 🙏.

Awesome thread, many learnings here!
I was ambitious and worked hard to advance my career at Amazon and then Facebook. I thought the way to get ahead was to deliver results, then push for more responsibility and position myself for promotion. I later came to realize I had it totally backwards. Here's my story:

While we all work together to figure out what we can do to help in the current situation, I think the only long-term fix is for as many of us to move away from large cities. This is the answer to many of India’s problems. And now is probably the right time to work towards it. 1/5
