I’m not sure why they refer to Bhaskar here as a conservative. It seems to me that ‘moderate’ would make much more sense. But even that is imprecise. It’s likely that they want to trigger the left with the label.

'Wokeism' in my view is an effect of the left dominated by liberal institutions. It is the ideological worldview of the upper middle class, and as such it is what liberals want the left to exist as: atomized agents at odds with one another. We should not pathologize this as a problem of the individuals though, we should analyze it from on top. It has to be assessed at the level of the gatekeepers that insist on no platforming and that prevent true and subversive class solidarity because they see 'reationary' thought in everything. To blame all of that on young people who have been worked up as a result of this institutional arrangement is not a materialist analysis of the problem.
