"If someone can restore honor to the attorney general’s office after the Ken Paxton years, it’s Nathan Johnson."
Strong endorsement from the @dallasnews for James Talarico, ending with an irrefutable point: "Don't Texans deserve an honest and independent man as senator?"
The Dallas Morning News recommends James Talarico in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate. Read why. bit.ly/4zAc2nP

The rule of law is the rule of law, no matter your party.
That’s why two former Texas Supreme Court justices, both appointed by a Republican governor and elected on the Republican ticket, endorsed me in this race.
I’m honored by the confidence Chief Justice Tom Phillips and Justice Deborah Hankinson have placed in me.

Texas Democrat candidate for U.S. Senate James Talarico:
We need to strengthen Ukraine. We need to strengthen our NATO allies as they stand up to Russian aggression so we don't have to.
In some ways, I see this as a cost-saving measure. If we can stop this aggression, if we can stop Putin in Ukraine, then we're not going to have to stop him elsewhere.

I am grateful to all of you who are trying to keep Europe and the United States together.
There are so many people with good hearts in America who sincerely want evil to lose and Ukraine to stand strong. These are the very hearts that helped Europe defend its freedom, and that fought on D-Day, won the Cold War, and want what is best for Europe. Hearts that want to be allies, not to divide or humiliate Europe. I believe most Americans still feel this way. And at the end of the day, the American people will have their say.
Putin will listen to America if America really turns up the heat on him and makes one thing clear – either he chooses peace, or he gets no more money for his war.

Ken Paxton is selling off Texas — our land, our water, our communities.
Data centers bankroll Paxton, they get tax breaks, and you get stuck with the bill.
We can’t afford Ken Paxton’s corruption.

Any person who had a modicum of decency would apologize, immediately, and then impose some basic accountability for some remarkably negligent staff work. He was trying to set up a perjury trap with fake information. Pitiful.

It's bad enough that Senate Rs are deaf, blind, and dumb with respect to President Trump's abuse of power; it's far worse that they work to smear other American citizens to provide the president cover. It's both a dereliction of duty and a failure of basic decency.

In 2006, Hugo Chávez traveled to the U.N. and called George W. Bush "the devil," etc. This is what Charlie Rangel, one of Bush's fiercest critics in the House, said:
"George Bush is the president of the United States and represents the entire country. Any demeaning public attack against him is viewed by Republicans and Democrats, and all Americans, as an attack on all of us."
Nancy Pelosi expressed similar sentiments, adding, "Hugo Chávez fancies himself a modern-day Simón Bolívar, but all he is is an everyday thug."
Trump has yukked it up with Kim Jong-un over Biden, and yukked it up with Xi Jinping, also over Biden. If a Democratic president did the equivalent, Republicans would cry bloody murder -- correctly.
Can Republicans rise to the level of Rangel and Pelosi? They should be ashamed that the question need be asked.
In the White House, President Trump and the Chinese dictator Xi Jinping paused in front of a picture of an autopen, meant to represent Joe Biden. They had a good laugh. Is this right? Is it American? From me, a piece on the subject, for your consideration. thenextmove.org/p/trump-and-…
Texas has lost one of its finest public servants with the passing of Garnet Coleman. He truly cared about his constituents, his colleagues, and the State of Texas and it showed in how he conducted himself each day. I’ll always be grateful for his mentorship, example, and service.
Fully agree with Sen. Kelly. We have to keep reminding ourselves that these things are not normal - so we can try to recover the decent, honorable traditions and norms of American government when the Trump era is over.

When the White House opens its doors to the press, it must comply with the First Amendment. The president is as free as any other person to criticize media coverage. But he can’t ban outlets from the White House just because he doesn’t like their reporting or commentary. Press credentials aren’t a reward for loyalty to the government. A free, even adversarial, press is a sign of our country’s strength. The public deserves to hear about its government from independent voices, not just its leader’s loyalists and allies.

Happy Constitution Day.
"The American Constitution is, so far as I can see, the most wonderful work ever struck off at a given time by the brain and purpose of man."

An ally of a hostile foreign power "gifting" hundreds of thousands of dollars in entertainment to the son of the president is a scandal that should dominate headlines for months and lead to the president's downfall. But, hey, just another weird thing in the Trump era.

In his response to a baldly racist and nativist message by a fellow Texas Republican, the governor of the state noted that he had frozen H-1B visas at the universities. This is a snapshot of the GOP in our times.

Notably, Abbott doesn’t denounce French’s tweet or calls on him to delete it like other Texas Republicans
One of the most Abbott-like statements ever, and that's not a compliment. Doesn’t condemn French's tweet, amazingly uses this moment to remind us he wants to freeze H1Bs at UT. This is not the leadership Texas needs.

Our government posts memes and videos mocking and laughing at the suffering of immigrants and refugees. This is one more sick sign that something has broken in our souls.
