I TOLD YOU SO. 💀
THIS is exactly the kind of bullshit I cannot stand from companies, and Behaviour's own statement proves why I've been criticizing this mentality.
They literally admitted that they saw a MASSIVE audience watching someone who had NEVER played Dead by Daylight, rushed to give them special treatment and in-game rewards, and failed to carry out their usual vetting procedures.
All because they saw an opportunity with HUGE numbers.
Meanwhile, what about the passionate creators who genuinely LOVE the game? The people who spend countless hours creating content, building communities, promoting these games, supporting the developers and applying for creator programs, hoping to receive even ONE opportunity?
People like me and my friends put genuine passion, time, money and HARD WORK into what we do, only to sometimes get absolutely JACK SHIT in return.
And then we see situations like this.
THIS IS WHY CREATORS GET DISCOURAGED. THIS IS WHY PEOPLE LOSE TRUST IN COMPANIES.
It's not about being jealous of someone's success. It's about FAIRNESS, CONSISTENCY and RESPECT.
I'm NOT against large creators getting opportunities, and I'm certainly not against newcomers discovering games.
What I AM against is companies throwing their own standards out the window the moment they see massive engagement, while smaller creators are expected to meet requirements, prove themselves and patiently hope someone will give them a chance.
The worst part? THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED.
Proper vetting. Proper communication. Proper approval procedures. Treating creators consistently, regardless of their follower counts.
It's really not that complicated.
If you're going to create a creator program, then actually RESPECT the people putting effort into it and the people genuinely interested in joining.
Stop making passionate creators feel invisible while treating massive numbers like a golden ticket.
BIG NUMBERS SHOULD NOT MEAN BIGGER PRIVILEGES WHEN YOUR OWN STANDARDS ARE BEING IGNORED.
And to every company operating with this mentality: DO BETTER.
Creators deserve a fair opportunity, not a system where passion and dedication suddenly become secondary to popularity.
That's my problem with this entire situation, and Behaviour's own admission demonstrates exactly why these concerns deserve to be taken seriously.
