Being an “early bloomer” can be a curse for some kids. It can make you think you are better than you really are, which can lead to laziness, entitlement and arrogance. Stay humble, stay hungry. @TruthInYouthPod @MarkHelselToday

Youth sports should be fun, but….it should also be grounded in life lessons, tough love and disciplines. It is the perfect training ground for life after playing. Some leaders of young athletes get it, and some don’t. Parents, choose wisely. @TruthInYouthPod @MarkHelselToday

This has been a long time in the making. So much went into this, not just writing it but the time spent with so many mentors as well as working across multiple levels and areas of scouting. This isn’t about my life in the game as a whole (that story is coming), but focuses on getting players right and what that means for families and clubs alike. One is searching for answers and realization of life long dreams, and the other focuses on winning World Series with a lens that only operates at one speed.
Release date is coming soon. I’m looking forward to it.

Life lesson….at the moment we give ANY external circumstances power over our actions and attitudes we have lost the battle.

How long would you want to play a game if you got yelled at by your coach and/or parents while playing it? The answer for most kids is “not long”. Its a game and it should be fun to play. Don’t steal the joy out of the game for young players.
