"Para algunos analistas, la aritmética fiscal terminará obligando al Tesoro a aplicar alguna forma de control de la curva de tipos, conteniendo el tramo largo para evitar que el pago de intereses siga sangrando las cuentas públicas y el déficit crezca de forma vertiginosa"

We went into what these supply-demand gap charts mean (and what they don't) in our latest newsletter.
TL;DR: a gap that size never materializes. Price, substitution or demand destruction close it first. The chart is about incentives, not outcomes.

Morgan Stanley is the latest sell-side bank to raise its copper price forecasts, citing persistent long-term deficits and capex failing to translate into higher volumes. Its new long-term price (i.e. 2030 onwards) is now up 15% to $5.73/lb.
They warn that even at these new estimates, incentive prices may still not be high enough to support development of several brownfield and greenfield projects. They cite a whirlwind of escalating cost headwinds, such as a sulphur squeeze, diesel export bans, grade declines, royalty changes, a super El Niño and strategic stockpiling, all driving further cost pressures.
We think that, given all these factors, the copper price should be even higher… So which will be the straw that breaks the camel’s back?

#uranium developments look quite bullish despite recent price action in the equities.
🤔As I was saying and to prove my point, Deep Yellow announces on #Australia's ASX today that "current equity market conditions do not support a Final Investment Decision (FID) in Q4 2026" for its 3.6M lbs per year Tumas greenfield #Uranium mine in #Namibia.😯
As I posted yesterday: "Rising operating & borrowing costs💰⤴️ as share prices are being hammered down⏬💥🔨 will further delay crucial exploration, resource expansion, mine development & construction that's absolutely essential to fix the widening structural supply deficit🦥 sending that deficit to far deeper levels as the U3O8 commodity demand soars.↕️🗜️"
⚠️The delayed FID pushes the commencement of production to Q1 2029 at the earliest, if that FID comes in Q1 2027, with a subsequent 15-month ramp period to full nameplate capacity of 3.6 Million lbs per year in Q2 2030 if all goes perfectly, which is 4 years from now.😲
#Nuclear fuel buyers will have to keep waiting for new greenfield mines to fix the Uranium supply deficit that continues to widen, day after day.😢🤠🐂 #UraniumSqueeze 🪗

“Aumentar la oferta minera no es simplemente una cuestión de que suba el precio y aparezcan nuevos proyectos”
¿Por qué?

A supply-gap chart is NOT a forecast. It describes what WOULD HAVE TO HAPPEN for projected demand to be met, not WHAT WILL HAPPEN.
The market adjusts through price, substitution, recycling or demand destruction.
It is about #incentives, not a prediction of outcomes.

#Gold price is struggling. But gold ETFs bought quite a lot.
A record $ 31bn over Q3, the largest quarterly inflow ever.
Price and positioning are telling different stories.

🚨 Something important is happening in the bond market.
Long-term yields are rising sharply... and this matters far beyond #bonds.
Cost of capital, financial conditions, real rates, liquidity and fiscal sustainability are all moving into focus.
